Good work Dr. Hope. Mark will get what he deserves it is just a matter of time. I was not aware how he was treating the employees. I am glad you shed some light on the situation. All the customers can tell he is a super douche bag though. Living off Daddy! Good Luck in the fight!!

How has Mark not gotten you to take down your site yet? I heard he has spent over 100k suing you, is that true?

I'm sorry to hear that things have not improved at Ocean's Eleven Casino. I still have two good friends that are minority owners. Tim I think they did you a favor by booting you from Oceans 11. Just another mistake by them. I was in there playing last week and it has really gone down hill. Its a dump now. I wont be back to play again.

{ts '2004-09-13 00:00:00'}
Tim, My hat is off to you. There are very few people who would do all that you have done to stand up for what they believe in. I have not been to Ocean's Eleven even one time since you were barred. That is the least I can do to support your cause. The world needs more people like you. It is too bad you have gotten so little support from the employees at Ocean's Eleven, it must be awful living in fear of someone as cowardly as Mark K. People like Mark need help. He has no social skills, no sense of being a part of something much bigger than he is. He believes he is special, better than others, and that he has the right to treat other people as less than. All of us who have followed your efforts in this situation wish you total success. As for me, I will never walk into Ocean's Eleven again. All the best.

Hello Again, Apparently the judge did not sign her tentative ruling which dissolved the restraining order, instead she has set another hearing on Friday the 12th. Therefore my public forum at www.pokercommunitynetwork.com will not be able to be accessed through www.oceans11.info . You can still access the forum directly by going to www.pokercommunitynetwork.com if you would like to make a comment. I'll make a post there on Friday to let you know what happened in court. FYI: Neither I or the database records your IP address. Absent that no one knows where your comment originated. Your name and email address are seen only by me and I will not tell anyone, however, if you want to be 100% sure that your post cannot be traced to you, you can enter a fake name and email address. That way not even I will know who made the post. Have a great day! Tim

{ts '2004-08-13 00:00:00'}
Tim, Happy to hear the good news! We are all rooting for you. Can't help but wonder where Mark is getting the $$$ to pay for this court case, his own $$$ or does he take it from Ocean's Eleven. When will the other partners stop him from throwing their $$$ down the drain?

{ts '2004-07-13 00:00:00'}
Allrightythen, the site is back up and running and hopefully the code is all repaired and the new spam filter will work. Only time will tell. Your posts should go up automatically and only be stopped if you use swear words. Hooray! The judge ruled that the temporary restraining order stopping access to this site from oceans11.info is dissolved. Meaning that you can now access this site from that domain name. Turns out that Spencer Skeen, the high priced attorney that Mark hired, has made some mistakes. Besides lying under oath he also failed to file the proper notices and proof of service thereof, therefore the court dissolved the temporary restraining order stopping me from using oceans11.info from accessing this site. Of course at this point most of you have stopped looking at this site because you didn't know how to get here. Well, hopefully someone will tell you that this public forum is again alive and you can once again post your comments without fear of retribution. ---Tim

" I dont want to know any employee's....they all want something" When Mark Kelegian first took over this is what he told a manager after an employee tried to introduce themselve to him. Suprised?

As most of you don't know there was a court order issued ordering me not to use the domain name ocean11.info to access this website. This order was issued on and ex parte motion giving me less than 24 hours to respond. They never served me the motion papers prior to the hearing so I didn't know what their arguments were going to be. They lied. They claimed that they had trademark rights to the name oceans11.info. They don't. I have subsequently filed an application for reconsideration showing that they don't. I will post that application here for all of you to read as soon as I can. --Tim

I have not played at the Bike lately, so I do not have a comment on the temperament there. However, the Bike and O11 are not owned by the "same company" or shareholders. Haig Kelegian (Mark's father) owns 30% of O11 and a significant interest in the Bike. I do not think he owns a controlling interest (over 50%) there either. There may be a few other common shareholders as well. I think the main difference is that the Bike has professional management, while O11 is being run by Mark and his authoritarian methods.

{ts '2013-01-09 00:00:00'}
Why do the employees at the Bike seem so much happier than the employees at Ocean's Eleven? Aren't they owned by the same company?

While I have not seen the legal arbitration agreement that you are now expected to sign BEFORE receiving a copy of the O11 Employee Handbook, it clearly presents both a legal and professional conundrum for all employees. Quite likely it is not legal or fully enforceable, unless you are receiving specific compensation for signing and waiving any of your rights under state and Federal statutes. However as O11 is an "at will" employer, you can be terminated at any time with or without cause. It is also likely that you can not be held responsible for adhering to any "employee rules, etc." contained in the handbook, unless you are given a copy. But again, you could be fired simply for not signing and receiving a copy. Just another example of Mark exercising his power and authority. He knows that no one will challenge him in requiring this arbitration agreement. My advice is to sign, read the handbook and adhere, if you want to keep your job.

{ts '2012-12-24 00:00:00'}
Can someone explain the two page legal arbitration paper they want us to sign in order to get our Employee Handbook. You need to be a lawyer just to understand it. I don't understand it. Are we surrendering any of our rights. Is it legal? Should we sign it? Any feedback would be helpful...Thanks and Happy Holidays to all.......

Merry Christmas to all the employees at Ocean's Eleven, I miss you all. Dealers and all support personell alike. The six years I worked there was a great experience for me and I got to know lots of great people and hope your lives are full and well, your families as well. Starting a new year I pray that you all will stay positive and learn to deal with the changes of the last few years. It is not a perfect world and never will be but we still live in one of the greatest places in the world, so please try to get along. Again, Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Ricky R. Wayne, If u want to deal a home game I'm sure Mark would have no problem with u doing so. But, do us ALL a big favor, STOP trying to WRITE! You are truly a moron!

2012-12-22

Hi Everybody, I thought share about the 50,000 guarantee tournament I played a couple weeks back.Pachanga easily met the amount of entry's needed to make the 50,000 guarantee. It's amazing to me how far players will travel when there is a posted guarantee, and not 40,000 EST.I would also like to add how friendly the staff and dealer's were to me at Pachanga casino. The tournament structure was fantastic I might add too. It seems so often that this part has been changed to quickly to finish in the hopes of making these busted players into cash tables. In closing I will be returning to Pachanga casino in the future, and would invite others to check this casino out.

2012-12-21

Why dont you shut up regarding home games. First, they are started by players that want their own games at home. Second, who is in charge of a dealer? If you were a mechanic and wanted to work on a car at your house, would that be wrong? Can your employer tell you that you cant? Or landscaping or some other job? Third, Who are you so everyone can know what kind of moron you are. Mind your own business. Why do people have to question others so much regarding what they are doing? Sounds like someone trying to cause trouble. Probably someone from management thinking they are clever. Only a jackass would post something so stupid. Wasnt it nice this year for the Christmas party? Cheap! Years past they would have a big party with many gifts for their employees. This year its 4 gifts with it in the BAR. Way to go Mark! You make everyone feel so special i'm sure. And plus the gift cards. Whoo Hoo! $25! Eat SH**! Merry Christmas everyone! Well almost everyone.

2012-12-21

To: im tring... it is unlikely any dealer at Ocean's Eleven would be interested in working for a stone cold MORON! 2012-12-21

Poker dealers have the same rights as everyone else. What they chose to do on their own time is

their business. That was a really stupid question!

2012-12-20

How come OCEANS 11 lets certain dealers deal at HOME GAMES and take players away from playing there ? Is it okay for a dealer  to work at a HOME GAME ?  please let me know im tring to get one or two for a new game I want to start every week with good people and I need good dealers. Please lete me know what dealers are available. I guess its not against the rules right ?????????

2012-12-20

Season's Greetings!

It was my intention to give the people who wash out the toilets, clean the floors and wash and bus the dirty dishes (these employees work just as hard, if not harder as the dealers and ALL the employees of O11 but rarely get tips)  a small Christmas tip as I have each and every year for the past ten years. When I went to make that happen this year I immediately got a phone call from Ocean's Eleven's attorney, Spencer Skeen (a decent fellow, just doing his job) telling me that his client did not want me contacting the employees or giving them Christmas gifts.  I was told that such a gift would be considered a BRIBE and that that would be brought to the attention of the court.

As much as I know how much even a small tip can help, this would probably end up costing me way more in time, money and stress.   My first thought was to do it anyway but the problem with that was that the employees that helped me facilitate that could get into trouble and perhaps lose their jobs.  Something that I would not want to happen.  So bottom line: I'm so sorry but No Christmas Gift from me this year.  But if any of you customers that are on a winning streak and in a generous mood or employees who do make good tips want to, please tip those workers because I can't (again these employees are in a position where they normally do not get tips from the customers), if you would do that, that would be swell and greatly appreciated by me and them.  Thank you, Merry Christmas to you and your family and a healthy and Happy New Year! (It's going to be interesting for sure!)

Also, thank you for all the kind words.  It certainly makes me feel that I'm not fighting this battle for nothing.

Tim

2012-12-12

I would also like to thank Tim for all he has done. Regardless of how this finally ends there are very few people who would go to the lengths that Tim has for others. In this Season of giving and for all of you Christians celebrating the birth of Christ, let us give thanks to someone who has truly gone above and beyond in support of the "little guy".  We all want to believe in some kind of cosmic karma, and hope that people like Mark K. will get their just desserts in the end. But, we also know that is often just wishful thinking. So, THANK YOU TIM for all you have done for the folks at Ocean's Eleven, and to you and all your family and loved one's have a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY HEALTHY NEW YEAR!

2012-12-11

As long as I can remember, it¯s was this time of year that Tim Anders use to play extra poker here at O11 just so he could give his winnings to the employees.  He use to give around $1,000 (if I remember correctly) to the different managers and ask that they give an even amount of money to each of the employees that where behind the scenes and weren¯t in a position to receive tips from the customers.  These included janitors, dish washers, security guards, etc.  Although the final amount was only $10-$20 each, often that was just enough to complete the payment of a toy in lay-away for their child, the last amount needed to pay a bill or perhaps to be able to buy a family member a little gift.  Most of the dealers where always happy to see Tim come to their table because they knew that they where in for humor, kindness and a generous tip, no matter what kind of day Tim was having on the tables.  Tim is very much missed and will always be appreciated especially since Mark has banned him for writing a letter for trying to right a wrong. Thank you Tim and I know that where ever you are playing poker, you are making those around you happy and blessing them with your kindness.  I wish you and your family a Merry X-mas and thank you for trying to help.

http://www.firstamendmentcenter.org/curses-blasphemy-profanity-laws-still-on-the-books      Wayne, Do you really believe it is illegal for a poker player to curse at a poker dealer? If so, could you please provide some evidence. I don't know where you and Mark went to law school, but, I must have missed the class where this was discussed. There are still some states, though very few, where there are still old statutes on the books re: cursing, but, they are very rarely ever enforced and there are none in California. So, though Ocean's Eleven may choose to ask a player to leave for cursing, they could never have that person arrested. I would caution at this point that you may be in a bit over your head in your understanding of the First Amendment. As a poker player and a lawyer, after going back and reviewing everything posted to date on this site, my sense of it is Mark will have a difficult time with a jury. It only takes one reasonable person to "see" what Mark's problem really is. I will watch with some interest as this proceeds, but at this point in time I make Tim at least an 80/20 favorite. Happy New Year to you as well, and be prepared for this to take many more months before anything is decided. The system works very slowly. Cheers!

2012-12-04

I just want to right and hope to inform you all that this case isn't actually about the first amendment and the right of free speech. Everyone of course does have that right to speak freely but  also has limitaions to the things they can say. Just like you can't useyour right of free speech to curse in public places , such as allowing a player the ' the right of free speech ' to keep cursing at you and cant let the right of free speech threathen to kill someone or make false statements such as ' Fire '. Free speech does have it limitations. Just like everything else in life.  Slander and Libel may be the two biggest laws that exist to protect all of those, all of us, who are in some ways hurt by others " Misusing their right of Free Speech".  There is and should be no doubt in anyone's mind that this site has allowed for so many slanderous things said about the casino and Mark. My question now is how would you like it if people were to go somewhere and say nothing but bad and slanderous things about you ? The answer is you wouldnt. That is plain and simple. And that is what this is all about more then anything. Im just stating all of this as far as law is all. This whole thing isnt about Free Speech. You know you cant say anything  you want . Heck maybe I should sue for slander for the things some of you have said about me.  Guess Ill only hear more of it now. Just watch what you say LOL. -  Wayneman Peace and Love and Happy Holiday and Happy New Year to all.

Who in their right mInd would ever sleep with Mark??? He is disgusting and dresses like a homeless person!!!!! PATHETIC!!!

2012-12-02

Tim, I am truly sorry to hear about this judge's ill-conceived ruling. You certainly should be protected by the First Amendment providing for "Freedom of Speech".  This makes  two very bad rulings in favor of Mark by this same judge. It is impossible to find any merit in Mark's arguments. Could Mark be paying her off or even "sleeping" with her?

2012-12-01

Mark, You NEED to get a LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2012-12-01

WOW! I am not an attorney but it is difficult to imagine what the judge was thinking. But, you have nothing to worry about. NO jury after hearing this case would ever rule for Mark K. We need to get the local newspaper involved in this case. How about an article with this headline, Local Business Owner Ignores First Amendment!!!

2012-12-01

Tim, Please put your fund raising apparatus back up. I am sure at this point even Wayne would want to contribute in order to support FREE SPEECH!! What planet did Mark K. come from??????

2012-12-01

Tim, Have no fear! Mark won an insignificant battle. HE WILL NEVER WIN THE WAR!!!!!    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution

2012-12-01

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution         Mark, R U REALLY a lawyer??? In what country did U go to law school?? There isn't a jury anywhere in this country that will EVER rule in your favor! We ALL know U have a HUGE EGO and think U R something special, but, even U R not above the law. Whose $$$ R U spending to shut down Tim's site? I certainly hope U R taking the $$$ out of YOUR pocket and not from the profits created by O-11. Have U consulted with ALL the partners re: what U R doing with THEIR $$$. It is very difficult for me to believe that U REALLY think U can win this law suit. God Bless Tim Anders, and God Bless the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!!!

2012-12-01

FYI:

The judge denied the motion to dismiss. In my opinion, and the opinion of my lawyer, she made an error by not interpreting the law correctly. Don't be too upset with her, we all make mistakes. Therefore: The Soap Opera continues... Again, I still believe in free speech, absent a court order this site will remain up and I will continue to post your comments.

Tim

2012-11-30

No matter what happens.....I can only respect Mr. Anders for his will to stand up for injustice. I commend that and say THANK YOU so much.

2012-11-30

Thank all of you so much for your kind words of encouragement and support.  The truth of the matter is today’s ruling is really a Freeroll for me.  My motion to dismiss the case on the ground that free speech is protected against such retaliatory lawsuits will be heard in front of Jacqueline M. Stern today at 1:30 pm.  This is the same Judge that erred and ruled that Mark was not guilty of malpractice and was later reversed by the state Court of Appeal, which cost Mark’s insurer one million dollars to settle the case (according to Carla DeDominicis, the lawyer for the prevailing side.)

Click here to read the Union Tribune article.

If the judge rules in my favor the case will be dismissed with prejudice and it will be over.  If the judge, on the other hand, errs again and rules for Mark, then the case will continue and eventually will be decided by a jury.  So you see Mark cannot win today, but I can.  Again,  I believe in free speech, absent a court order this site will remain up.

All I know is that if Mark wins tomorrow, he truly is a monster!  Tim Anders is a kind and gentle man.  This whole thing started because Tim was concerned that employees where being treated badly (which they are) and older people where being let go un-fairly (which they had).  Tim does not deserve to be treated the way he has by Mark.  Mark has no compassion, no ethics, no moral compass and is basically out for himself and doesn¯t care what harm he brings to others.  He¯s basically not much of a human.  If  Mark had a shred of decency in him, he would drop the case and apologize to all the employees that have help make him and the other owners rich.  Tim has spent a small fortune already defending himself and it will double if he loses¯ and for what?  Just for being a good guy¯.sad.  Let¯s all hold a special thought of good energy or a prayer that Tim wins.  Again, all Tim was trying to do was to help people that are too scared to help themselves against a person that shouldn¯t even be in the people business and is running a once happy place into the ground.

What used to be a really cool and fun place to work and play is now just another dive Casino. Sad.

Wayne, It became very clear some time ago that those who choose to use this site do so because they DO NOT have to proclaim who they are. You have chosen to support the current management and what they are doing. Would you be so quick to announce who you are if you were "on the other side", I think not. You appear to have a "bit" of a brown nose. It is much easier for you to stand on the side lines and cheer for the status quo as there is nothing for you to lose. Try to imagine what is is like for those who disagree with you and how much they would risk if they were to proclaim openly who they are. You certainly have every right to your opinion, but you are ONE voice in a VERY BIG OCEAN!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE....Enjoy your special time with your family....They are the only ones who REALLY care about you!!!!

Even before you gave your name i was thinking that you wrote this Wayne. WAYNE IS AN IDIOT

2012-11-20

Im getting so sick of who ever is writing about have a black friday sick - out. First of all I want to know who you are so post your name okay. Do that first. Then let everyone know if you even work on Friday's at all. And if you think working at Ocean's is so bad then why don't you be a man about it and just quit and go work someplace else ?  To me Ocean's is getting better in many ways. So this coming Friday. This " Black Friday " Ill go to work in the day and then i'll go dance in the bar on " Ladies Night " Friday. And no I am not writing this to kiss anyone's azz. Im doing it to try and make you show your's and let the world know who you really are. For sure you ain't no superman. And you know by reading this who it was written by , and if you say WAYNE. Then your damm right. Finally , about something. Hmmmmm What's your name ?

2012-11-19

Everyone should know ow CHEAP Ocean's Eleven is to their employees. Except for paying only half of our health care they give us NOTHING. There is no sick pay or vacation pay. They add nothing to our 401k plans. They steal up to 15% of the dealers tips. And to add insult to in injury they give us four movie tickets for our birthday and a $25.00 gift certificate for Christmas no matter how long you have been there. All because they want to make more money for themselves....TAKE....TAKE....TAKE.....

2012-11-18

AWFUL, is correct. Every employee gets to keep their tips except for the dealers. Why do we tolerate this? Count me in for BLACK FRIDAY!

2012-11-17

The sick out on Friday November 23rd is a great idea. The world needs to know how AWFUL the owners and management treat their employees. The dealers must give the house up to $5,000 a year from their tips just for the privilege of working there. If you have been there over 10 years it really adds up. They say it is legal, but I do not think it is. But nobody wants to challenge them, for fear of losing their job. They don't need our money, but WE DO. It is pure evil and greed. So yes, a sickout on Friday November 23rd is a GREAT IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2012-11-16

Oceans is going to self combust. It is being led by a man with no soul. If anyone thinks that this person cares about anyone of you, you are so jaded. There is a knife waiting for your back and your days are number. Why any players would contribute to this mans wealth is beyond explanation. If you work there GET OUT. If you play there. PLAY SOMEWHERE ELSE.

2012-11-14

Bad idea IMO. As a player, would you ever go back to that Casino. I wouldn't. Less business means less dealers needed ... maybe you? Don't crap where you eat. Unless you have something better, just put your head down and deal. I see dealers starting to break down, people I consider friends and mostly excellent dealers .The less business, the less $. The less $, the less dealers needed. Don't drive more business away. I for one will burn and turn on the date of your sick out. Take it anyway you want.

GREAT IDEA!!!!!!!!!  SICK OUT ON FRIDAY NOVEMBER 23.......MAYBE THEN THEY WILL APPRECIATE US MORE!!!!

2012-11-10

I think Friday November 23rd. would be a very good day for ALL the employees at O-11 to be "sick". Many people have that Fri. after Thanksgiving off and it is always a busy day. Wouldn't it send a message to Mark if he had players waiting but no dealers? Maybe we could get Mark in the box, so he could get some idea what dealers do everyday. But, I am sure he won't be working the day after Thanksgiving. FRIDAY NOVEMBER 23, SICK IN AT O-11!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2012-11-09

Mark will never sue Tim over this web site!! Tim has WAY too much support from the people that matter. If we ever hear one word about a law suit it will be time for EVERYONE to call in sick ON THE SAME DAY!!! That would only be the first step in the process to help Mark SEE what is happening!

2012-11-08

Well, Im sure the court date must be rapidly approaching where Mark is suing Tim for having this website up. A forum where anyone can voice their opinion and speak their mind without fear of reprisal. Is that the most ridiculous, paranoid, mean spirited thing that youve ever heard? If Mark wins, it will truly show that he is a hateful, narcissist, controller, like everyone has been saying all along, with no consideration or compassion to anyones feelings but his own. It was bad enough that he fired the older ladies and god only knows who else for what reasons and that everybody is scare of him because he is so litigious. He has ruined so many lives. I cant imagine that he has any friends and Ive NEVER heard ANYONE say anything nice about him except for a couple of employees that brown nose him because of their jobs/position. Mark is the most hated person Ive ever heard of and must have a life/heart as black as night. Somehow I still feel that Mark will see the ways of his errors and change for the better by this forum. Realizing that what he has been doing and how he treats people is wrong and detrimental to O11. Lets all pray that Tim wins and Mark changes!

2012-11-08

Hey Tim. This is the first I've heard of your falling out with O-11. It's funny because I've noticed a steady degradation of the attitude and service at O-11 over the last 10 to 12 months. I even had a dealer tell me to "f@#k-off" with a floorman standing right next to the table. The dealer still has his job. Can you imagine that happening in any service business (except for maybe a strip club) that the service person would still have their job? As a result of my unpleasant experiences and yours, I'll be finding another place to play. Keep fighting the good fight my friend. Mark T. (the other ponytailed "longhair" that use to play at O-11).

Hooray! We’re almost done, just one more day of those hateful TV ads.  I can feel it, soon the streets will no longer be littered with all of those obnoxious and unsightly  vote requests: Vote No on Proposition Yes; Vote Yes on Proposition No. One year of this assault to our senses and soon it will be over.  The time is almost here, I can’t wait.

I love America and its many Freedoms, soon we will have Freedom from the campaigns!  I voted, did you? Wouldn’t it be nice if they limited the campaigns to 60 days? I’d vote for that!  Have a great day everyone and remember if you don’t vote, you can’t complain about the outcome. (Well, I suppose you can, that whole Freedom of Speech thing.)  So everybody it is your right as an American citizen to vote. So be sure to go out and vote tomorrow, unless of course you’re planning on not voting for my choice, in which case feel free to stay at home.

Tim

I'm pretty sure the point of this website was to give customers and employees a place to speak their mind about Oceans 11 without having to worry about being banned or fired. Unfortunatly something that was made with good intentions for others has been infested by the bottom feeders of the internet and is now used for trolling purposes

2012-10-24

This place is getting ridiculous. To the employees bitching about work, deal with it. It's your job and you make decent money why complain? If you're unhappy get another job or get a degree and do something about it. Take control! To the players, stop bitching about the dealers!!! There was never a given moment where a dealer forced you to walk in and play whatever hands you're playing, let alone the hands of the opponents you go up against. To blame it all on the dealer is naive and immature. Last I checked you have to be 21 to go in there so we should all be acting as adults. I realize this is too much to ask because some of you won't see it how I see it, and that's fine. This long running game of who's to blame gets us nowhere though. Instead of blaming each other we need to do what we can to help each other but I know that saying this in the context of the casino environment is ridiculous because the environment is built around capitalizing off each other(taking each others money.) Perhaps the casino should just be shut down for the good of the community. What has the casino given back to the place where it's located? Maybe more than I'm aware of, I would like to know that though. From what I understand a lot of what they gave back to the community ended after management changed. Is that permanent or do they plan on giving back still? I'm only a young adult with naive dreams of a future where we all know what it is that we have to do as individuals to find happiness within ourselves and within others. I won't stop believing, and with that said, I hope you all take a moment to really ponder what's important to you and your lives. Stop gambling with your money and start gambling in the real world...

2012-10-23

The only thing Mark knows how to do is tell other people to do his dirty work. I dont understand, If he is an attorney. Why isnt he practicing law? Maybe pretending to run a casino is easier. I probably would do that to if my daddy gave it to me.

Hello, I'm not really sure what the point of this site is but it seems like it's gotten ugly. Some of you may remember me, I was a big part of Ocean's Eleven since It's opening in 1997. Ocean's Eleven became successful because of the "Cheers" type atmosphere, we made it a point to know your name and always took the time to talk to you when you visited the Casino. I believe that Mark is a smart business man. He has done some things that should have been done years ago that will make the Casino more profitable, unfortunately from what I understand he is strictly corporate business and doesn't understand the "people" aspect of the business. This has been the downfall of Ocean's. Let me say though that we at Pechanga appreciate all the business that has headed back in our direction due to the animosity at Ocean's. Yes our food sucks (excuse my language) but I have passed on the smart business practice that I learned from Bob Moyer, treat your players like family and they will come and visit you as often as they can! Treat your employees like family and they will be loyal, dedicated and happy. Mark does not allow dealers to talk to players on the poker floor. We put a spot in the dealer rotation that puts a dealer on the poker floor so they CAN talk to players...hmmmm! Many of my friends are still at Ocean's Eleven and I feel sorry for them because they are miserable. I hope things get better for them. As for you unhappy players, come see me any time and we will make you feel at home.

That's funny. The average dealer has an education of a 6th grader? Only a jackass would come on a website like this and write that. Do the players that play almost every day and lose 80% of the time qualify as having a 6th grade education too? Just because someone works at a certain job or makes bad decisions, Doesn"t make them uneducated. What an idiot! I AM NOT SPELL CHECKING OR WRITING PERFECT SENTENCES! SO WHAT! Your condescending attitude is both hypocritical and humorous. If you are going to crumb on posters for making grammatical errors I suggest you correct your own post prior to posting. e.g. "I know our school's..." F.Y.I:  "schools" is a plural noun, there should be no apostrophe. An apostrophe is used to show possession or a contraction, neither of which is appropriate here.   And further more just because a person makes an error with spelling or grammar or punctuation does not mean they don't have a valid point.  If you disagree with their point, that's fine, both of you have the right to express how you feel. You even have the right to post such an embarrassing post as the one you just did.

2012-10-14

I know our school's are failing us and that the high school drop out rate is off the chart. So this comment is addressed to the person who spoke to poker dealers and their level of education. I am afraid you give poker dealers too much credit. So many of the comments on this site are almost impossible to read. The grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, and typos, are so frequent I would guess the average level of education for poker dealers can't possibly be much higher than the 6th. grade.

2012-10-14

I met a STARR the other day who has gone unto to somewhere else that people also go to play. She looks just fine like she did all the time but a long time ago left Oceans behind. She put on the show's at Oceans too and made so many of us little stars too. STARR it was great to see you once again ..... and your burning brightness will never end.

Make sure another dealer doesnt hit Angela hit the Butt  with the  seat cushion he aimed  there as she' was walking away from the table she just dealt at and the dealer who pushed her is 5 minutes late to begin with. Nice trying to protect yourself your Angela but it was witnessed. Got it. Thats whats gonna be turned into management.

Oceans used to be an awesome place to work. Its only a matter of time until everyone will be replaced. Bottom line is Mark is all about money and if you think he cares about you and your job your wrong.

2012-10-12

I just wanna say that; I am a dealer at o11 and I think everything is great.  Mark you did a great job.  You fixed the place up; all the schedules and scheduling is fair.  I don't know what people are crying about.  I think ppl in general will cry about anything.  Anyways keep up the good work.  I think everything rocks. To the ppl that dont like it.  Go do something else.  No one is holding you back.  "Although I dont like paying downs; ill admit that I think that is nonsense; but its a small price to pay to work at  such an awesome place.

You can ALWAYS sue for wrongful termination whether it is at will or not....AND WIN if you have a valid case!!!!!!

2012-10-09

While your employer might not give you the exact reason in some instances of course. Many have been sued by and lost to employees for were found to be fired for other then sound reasons. You cannot fire someone cause you dont like the color of their hair or their skin color or age or sex or and so many other things. Because they havent done a proper job . Maybe not shown up for work often enough. Or dont fulfill their obligations or other reasons yes. They have to be legal reasons. Not just any at all. Gonna try and tell me you can be fired if you refuse a manager's sexual advances and they will be in the right ?  I hope not. Etc. Etc. Etc. on many different types of firings. Check out some civil law suits. They do exist.

2012-10-09

NOT ANY REASON,   NO! REASON!

2012-10-09

She isn't at all nice, I have spoken to your management team! And I don't attend o-11 because of her anymore

2012-10-09

...handicapped or white or black or asian....      NO EMPLOYER is ever going to tell you that you are being fired for any of these things, they are simply going to tell you ,YOU ARE FIRED!

2012-10-09

......100% incorrect.      The person posting the link to at will employment was right. Your employer does not have to give you ANY reason at all. You AGREED to this when you were hired. Read the company handbook. For many this may not seem fair, but it is a TWO WAY STREET, you can terminate your employment any time you want for any or NO reason.  You are certainly welcome to have your own opinion about this, but not at the expense of making up your own facts or law. :-))

2012-10-09

To: "There are laws designed to protect everyone. That for sure includes employees."          First it is clear you did not take the time to read the link that was included with my comment, so here it is again,           http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/At-will_employment                   once you have a basic understanding of at will employment, possibly we can continue our discussion. Or, you could speak with Mark K. about this, I'm sure being a lawyer, and an employer he understands the law. Cheers.

2012-10-08

Whoever wrote your employer can terminate you for ANY reason at all is 100 % incorrect. You cannot be terminated because you are handicapped or white or black or asain and your not liked for those reasons. Or your disabled or they dont like your sexual orientation or youve refused their sexual advances. There are many rights employers have and there are also those that employee's have. There are laws designed to protect everyone. That for sure includes employees.

2012-10-08

Angela is a very nice girl. Why are you making that complaint about her on here ? This isnt an Oceans 11 backed website. You didnt put your name on your comment but I have a good idea of who you are. Maybe I'll tell casino management about you.

2012-10-08

Does anyone KNOW if Steve G. is still with us? I sure hope so.

2012-10-07

Hey Gallagher , just so you know I havent been the one writing those previous comments mentioning you . This is the first time Im using your name and only to let you know that I havent said anything bad about you. I always thought you were great at what you did out on the floor and a really cool and nice guy.  Even when I got you that wedding present . Have a great day. No matter what the future brings - - - - - Wayne Parnell

2012-10-07

OFF the subject of Mark for a minute please because he is NOT the only issue that arises at O-11. California is an "at will" employment. Which begs me to wonder, WHY does Angela still have employment there? I have been a loyal patron for MANY years now, and in ALL my time Ive spent at O-11, I have never incountered someone as rude as this lady!!!! I have seen her be as rude if NOT worse to other customers, as well as her co-workers.  You have dealers there that have been a complete joy to spent time with wether I lose or win, yet this one dealer boggles my mind with the situations she continues to get away with?!?! It almost feels like these are the kinds of dealers O-11s would rather have and it's not alright by any means! "JUST SAYIN"

2012-10-05

Is Steve Gallagher still with us?  Maybe he is on vacation? It would be a HUGE loss if he is another victim of Mark. He is the only voice of reason we have left!

2012-10-05

"...your employer has every right to terminate that employment for doing so."     FYI, Your employer has every right to terminate you for NO REASON AT ALL!  The same way the employee can terminate his or her employment for any reason.  Employees DO have the right to strike, and the right to form a union for the purpose of collective bargaining. Someone has already mentioned this previously. My opinion is, for what it's worth, most poker dealers realize they have a pretty good deal. This was also eluded to earlier in a post re: how much dealers make, and what they pay taxes on. It looks to me like very few dealers would really care to "rock the boat".

2012-10-05

To: Amazing...    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/At-will_employment           "any hiring is presumed to be "at will"; that is, the employer is free to discharge individuals "for good cause, or bad cause, or no cause at all", and the employee is equally free to quit, strike, or otherwise cease work."     I have never argued that Mark doesn't have the legal right to fire anyone he chooses.  My point was simply that agreeing to become an employee, at O-11, or anywhere else, and punching in to work, you do not give up any of your "rights". The law in this matter is clear, the concept of "at will" employment is not complicated.    Tim feels that Mark firing certain individuals was "unfair", welcome to the real world.  Mark has every right to fire anyone. No one more than 5 years old believes life is fair.

2012-10-04

Amazing... my apologies, You are right, a person doesn't forfeit their constitutional rights while at work, what I should have said is, the 1st amendment offers no protection to an employee making derogatory statements about their employer to patrons while on or off the clock. So although you have every right to make those statements your employer has every right to terminate that employment for doing so.

2012-10-04

Shut up and deal IS .. or a least should be the dealers mantra. We forget from time to time , we're human. Customers like to engage us in conversation sometimes.. It's unavoidable and would be rude to ignore them.. It's a fine line ... easy to cross. A trap for every dealer ... Unavoidable IMHO. You'll almost always have a sourpuss at the table (loser) who will take the opportunity  to vent. NOW IS THE TIME to shut up and deal. Don't engage the sourpuss ... Just deal fast and he/she will soon bust out. It happens all day long. Losers are just that .. Losers. Just reading that last post, I could name 20 -30 O11 "players" who fit the bill. They also FOOT the bill. So here's to the losers... whine on. It's your big blind sir.

This kind of thing comes from letting the dealers play on the property. As far as violating there right to free speech by punishing them for bad mouthing the management to the patrons they should be fired for it without question, employees relinquish those rights as soon as they punch the clock. Tim's letter is ridiculous, who is hire or fired and for what reason is none of his business and it isn't his place to question, he invited the action and my guess is he isn't telling us the complete story. As a business owner it is necessary to fire a customer now and then. Dealers, there are no seatbelts on those chairs, if you are unhappy with your treatment or pay move on or keep it to your self.

Who is Wayne???  Why is he an idiot???

People are afraid to be targeted for termination if they say who they are. I dont blame them. Unfortunatly we still need a job to pay our bills and feed our children. Kharma is comming.

"Even after being fired Mark can still sue you, he doesn't need a reason,"....  REALLY? SUE YOU FOR WHAT? It must be awful living in such fear.

2012-09-30

To: "Anonymous is the best policy"...   So, we should ALL live in fear of big bad Mark! NO THANKS!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nineteen_Eighty-Four   "Under the spreading chestnut tree I sold you and you sold me-" For those of you hiding behind the curtain, maybe it is time to go back and read, Nineteen Eighty-Four a Great Novel by George Orwell. Published in the Spring of 1949, written in 1948, the year I was born. Maybe this will help you understand how important it is for ALL of us to stand up and not allow anyone, even someone as insignificant as Mark K. to take away your dignity and your right to BE!

2012-09-29

How many of "us" have to die defending your right to free speech. I cannot understand the fear that Mark has been able to instill in so many of the employees at O-11. As we watch people all over the world stand up and fight, and die, for the rights that we have here in the U.S. I am astounded at the unwillingness of a "free" people to SPEAK freely.  How many of you are really believe that speaking from "behind the curtain" really makes a difference? This is AMERICA, you can stand up and SPEAK! Many who have given their lives for you to do so would DEMAND no less. I promised myself I would not say another word on this site, but, as I continue to read the comments I am amazed at the inability, and or, unwillingness, of AMERICAN citizens to STAND UP and SPEAK! Thank You Tim, for the opportunity. Steve Barton

Everyone knows Wayne is an idiot !!!!!!!

This site is a place where people can anonymously post. Because someone doesnt want to say who they are doesnt mean they do not have a valid point. .

2012-09-29

Anonymous is the best policy. Even after being fired Mark can still sue you, he doesn't need a reason, look at how he's suing Tim, just for having this website up where we can talk.

2012-09-28

Even people who are fired "over speakerphone", are still unwilling to tell us who they are. Why?

2012-09-27

33 yes, 3 no, out of 400+ employees, no comments since Wayne last Sunday. Seen enough Tim? or, do you want to continue throwing your $$$ away?

2012-09-27

Improvements are nice, however it doesnt help me. I was fired by Mark Kelegian. Didnt even get a face to face. So classy to fire me over speakerphone. I worked my A@# off you more years than you can imagine and got punched in the face for it. I wouldnt trust that guy for nothing. Once a snake always a snake.

My name is Wayne and I think many of you know me . The dealer and the one who cares so much about so many things. The one who is aware and alert and tries to help in as many ways as I can. To give when I can and to reach out my hand to others to help them in any way I can. What I want to say right now is that Ive noticed some positive changes at the casino lately and I want to give Mark some credit for them. Many tables now have new felts on them thus making it easier to deal for the most part and more appealing for the players also. The chips have been cleaned about not being so for such a long time. That is admirable. Many dealers chairs have been improved and / or replaced and that is something that has been needed to be done for such a very long time. Now we are told that our dealers break room is going to be improved, something that it has needed for a very long time. Everybody who does know me , should know that I try to always improve things and make them better , myself included , of course. I hope that we can all continue to see improvements . Not just done by Mark but done by all of us. The harder we try the more likely we are to succeed.

I love all the dealers at Ocean's 11 and to think that they are getting bullied kind of makes me upset.  I think there are a few good employees that may have been lost because of how they treat their staff.  If the dealers aren't happy it kills the mood and players will often tip less and then in turn lose dealers.  Don't mess up this place, because the dealers are who I come back for.

2012-09-17

FOR YOUR INFORMATION TO ALL EMPLOYEES OF O11:   THIS IS THE LABOR LAW ATTORNEYS NUMBER I USED  (949) 825-5210.  YES I AM A CURRENT EMPLOYEE THERE FOR TWELVE YEARS....I GUESS IM JUST A LITTLE PISSED ABOUT BEING CUT DOWN TO 24 HOURS A WEEK JUST TO WATCH NEW DEALERS GET HIRED IN.   WE ALL KNOW THIS IS TRUE.  WE ALL KNOW THIS IS ILLEGAL!!!!!!!  BY THE WAY MARKS SALARY IS APROX  250,000K...SO NOW YOU HAVE A DIRECT NUMBER TO CALL...IT DOESNT GET ANY EASIER THEN THAT!!!!!!!

Lets do some more math that the person ( Mark ) left out when posting ( maybe a couple of ) dealers earnings. If a dealer did in fact work 4 days a week for 49 weeks that would be 196 days working in the year. Thats counting them taking time off on thier NON paid 3 vacation time. So lets get back to the math. It figures its 196 working dayz in a year and now you have to figure out how much each dealer doing that has to pay a year into the tip pool which really comes down to $ 2.50 per every table they dealt and with those dealers it would work out to $ 22.50 per day. So 196 days worked times $ 22.50 a day made to pay into the tip pool is $ 4,410.00. Now I know from dealers that they feel " required " is how some have told me , to tip the floorpeople when their shifts are over and chip runners and podium people also. This might be another  , oh say for the mim. an avg. of $ 5 .00 a day.  That is 196 x's 5 = $ 845 more a year , at least. That would bring tip pool the they must into and other tips to a total of around $ 5,200.00 a year. How come the loser who wrote that comment not only didnt put his name down but also didnt begin to put all the info down on his post. Just a question. Must think those high school graduates are stupid.... but their not. Not as much as he hoped. They all know he's a liar and a game player.  Im glad Im a lawyer so when the dealers sue Im here for them. Then it will be game , set , and match.

I should have done more research before sounding off. Wrongly decided, in my opinion, but that makes no difference. I don't know if Mark or any of the management read the comments here but I do want to be clear. I made a mistake by not doing more checking re: the most recent court cases involving tip pooling and I was wrong. I do apologize and very much regret my error.  Steve B.

http://caselaw.findlaw.com/ca-supreme-court/1534361.html    As much as I hate to admit it, it looks like the tip pool is legal. So, my bad. My sense of it is that even going to the Labor Dept. like John  T. did wouldn't work anymore.

The person who wrote about salaries even it wasnt Mark then im just guessing it was Mitch. Probably with some steering from his leader - of - the - pack woman.  Of course she at one time was a dealer , and a not very friendly one , who was laid off and therefore wasnt making the  $ 47, 000 a year that is stated that all those dealers with " high school only educations " make. She was hardly making a buck. Of course now she is on SALARY. Of course management salary isnt mentioned in that comment at all. Or casino profit. Of course. Mitch Ive seen what people have written here about you being such a nice guy and everything and Ive also read about Racheal and people afraid to state their name. Just like in the posting of dealers earnings. Its a shame when people are so afraid they cant even list their own name. Even when readers have to know it was written by Mark or for Mark by Rachel or Steve and in the case of the earnings , maybe even you. But they wont put their names down. Ask Rachel why she wont okay. As a player id love to know the answer to that one.

2012-09-16

The person who wrote the comment about dealer's take home pay and many of them's appartent lack of educution in only being " High School Graduates " must think that all dealers are stupid and all visitors to this site are very stupid too. Perhaps he thinks that by not writing his name that it wasnt MARK. Even if he had someone else do the actual typing for him. And the nerve of him trying to display the private information about what a person earns at work. Information that is very very far from being correct. It fails to include dealers who are put on " hold ' and sit and wait and hope they will be put in the line-up to deal on so many days but are only sent home without doing so.  It doesnt put in how dealers HAVE to pay $ 2.50 in to a tip pool from their money earned that day. Up to $ 22.50 in a single day which MUST come from those earning. It meantions how a dealer recieves 3 week vacation time per year. BUT doesnt mention that any dealer , no matter their length of employment at the casino recieve exactly ZERO paid vacation days, or sick days, or holidays. He does say dealers are pain minimum wage . GREAT . They are paid what the LAW says they must be paid. After dealers have worked for the casino for 15 years or 13 years or 12 years or whatever , they dont recieve any type of per hourly raise like they could. They still recieve what he brags about the casino paying them . What the LAW tells him it must do. Interesting how this person  - named MARK of course - could want to provide dealers finicial information but doesnt do that with his finicial information. Must be a big Mitt Rommey supporter too. He wants to tell you what a dealer COULD make now but not anything about what HE makes. Doesnt want to tell how a lot of dealers tips have decreased due to him banning a player like Tim and having others desert playing at Oceans who always tipped dealers very well and treated so many others so very well.  Mark  come on for once man ..Stand up and be a man. Make it known well that its YOU when you write comments on here. We all know it is. Do the right thing. Dealers sure aint making the money they do make because of anything good that youve done. Thats for sure. My name could be Bob or Ted or Carol or Alice or James Dean or  Clint Eastwood.  Whatever it is.  The only name that matters the most is TIM's. Cause he

One more thing, I accidently hit enter on my last comment while trying to do an edit. Everyone understands why ALL of you are so reluctant to step up to the plate and let us know who is speaking. But, I can't help thinking that this just gives Mark K. and people like him way more power than they deserve. At the risk of going of track a bit I will tell another story. No, this one is not about pants. When I was in 6th. and 7th. grade I was beaten up repeatedly by a classic bully. I started taking boxing lessons at the YMCA near my home. Finally, one day, the day I had been waiting for, "it" happened again. Several of his friends had to break it up before I seriously hurt the big bad bully. "That" never happened again. The lesson I took away from this? Bully's are weak, Mark K. is weak, he has nothing without his empolyees, he could NOT do our job. It is time for the employees ALL OF THEM, at O-11 to stand up to the BULLY! Call a union rep., everyone call in sick on the same day, STOP paying into the "tip pool". Put an END to Mark and people like Mark banning customers like Tim. How would you like to have an entire room full of Tim's??? YEAH, that;s what I thought. You folks are the one's who give Mark the power. You are the one's who can take it away!!

The less money that the dealers declare in tips will result in savings for Ocean's Eleven Casino. So, at the general meeting when they told the employees how hard they fought to keep our tip compliance down, it was strictly for their OWN interest. That is ALMOST as funny as the $25.00 gift card they give all the employees at Christmas, whether you have been there one year or 15 years..... CHEAP....CHEAP.....CHEAP.....

2012-09-15

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:  Why is it that chip runners, food servers, board people, floor people, all get to keep their tips? Why is it that only the dealers are expected to give up a portion of "their" tips? If management feels that these people "deserve" more, for some reason, Mark should feel free to pay them more. As a dealer I have never understood why, like every other casino employee I am not allowed to keep MY tips like all the others.  Even the CA Labor Law is clear on this issue, yet this practice of taking money from the dealers continues, under the guise of a tip pool. Why do poker dealers continue to contribute? What if everyone just refused to participate in this charade? Just askin.

Tisauro vs Ocean's Eleven Casino   LEGAL ANALYSIS beginning on page 3 and onto page 4, "The $2.00 fee the Defendant is requiring is not a legitimate tipping pool, but rather a fee being charged the employee in order to be able to work. Plaintiff is awarded interest of $571.01 persuant to Labor Code Section 98.1 3.Plaintiff is awarded waiting time penalties of $1,500.00 4. He filed a case with the CA State Labor Commission and stipulated  that he had been required to pay $2.00 per down in order to be allowed to work.  The Hearing Officer found John's claim to be credible, ruled in his favor, and ordered Ocean's Eleven to pay him a total of $6,343.01    To those poker dealers who have been fired recently, or those still working and tired of the "tip pool"? you might want to keep this case in mind.

CALIFORNIA LABOR CODE SECTION 351. EVERY GRATUITY IS THEREBY DECLARED TO BE THE SOLE PROPERTY OF THE EMPLOYEE OR EMPLOYEES TO WHOM IT WAS PAID,  GIVEN, OR LEFT FOR.       So, the "juice", (TIP POOL), is legal ???       WHY??????????

First things first . What is the NAME of the person that had the nerve to falsely state what dealers take home every day and year ?  WHAT IS YOUR NAME ? Why didnt you put that down in your comment ? That is the first thing that you should answer and you should answer it with your name. You were sure quick to use Tim's name when you started your comment were'nt you ? Tim is a greater person then you'll ever be. Put your name up here ... go ahead... make my day.

2012-09-14

Thanks alot Mitch. That was very inspiring. The only thing is is that when people have spoken out, they get their ass handed to them. I know this to be fact, as i know of the employees personally. My imput on 9-6-12 was all true. If i could give my name and and would keep my job, i would. Its easy to say your name because you are behind Rachel. Its what one would expect. If the employees had a meeting with the other owners without fear of punishment, I would come forth. I have seen many employees beeing yelled at by Rachel AND Mark on the casino floor. What do you have to say about that? Nothing. The way people are treated is the problem. Not the fact that dealers make a certain amount, its that we have no voice. You can sit there and say whatever you want and know that your job is safe. Not everyone has that. I feel that if the owners really cared, they would have been at that meeting and maybe listened to the complaints. As it was, it was a joke, just like Mark. Again, i have seen enough of the B.S. to know that anyone that comes forward would be gone. There has been no sign of anything showing otherwise.

2012-09-14

Mitch, I certainly do not question your integrity. You are one of the best dealers left in the house. I do not blame you for defending Rachel as well. She and Steve Gallagher I am sure are well paid by Mark to follow his instructions without question. I can not blame either of them as well. However, Mark remains the problem for the employees, players and other owners. As far as MERIT is concerned, Mark befriends those he likes and "punishes", intimidates or fires those he does not. Shift changes and reducing hours for senior dealers is but one example. He apparently did this to prove he is still in charge. He certainly could have left most dealers with there previous schedules and hours and did not have to hire a number of new dealers. He replaced Marlaine and Diana at the front desk with "his friends". I guess he did not like there "image" there. The there is Connie the HR Manager. Apparently no one knows what happened to her, but there have been at least two replacements and now maybe three. "Life expectancy" in HR seems to be very short these days. I also understand that Mark continues to ban other players as well for no good reason. GO TIM, please continue to provide a forum for all. Oceans Eleven is still not a "happy" place to work or play.

2012-09-14

First, I applaud Mitch for his willingness to speak openly without the cloak of anonymity. My name is Steve Barton and I have been an employee of Ocean's Eleven Casino since the Spring of 1997. Prior to dealing poker at O-11 I worked for the Oceanside Card Club. Steve Gallagher, Ed Briggs, Ron Dixon, and many others who worked for Len Miller at the OCC moved over to O-11 in the Spring and Summer of 1997. There is no question Bob Moyer's put together a top notch professional staff at O-11. The business did very well, far beyond the expectations of those who invested their money to get this venture started. We went through the era of the class action law suit filed over the extortion money taken from dealers. Settled out of court just prior to going to a jury trial. We made it through the economic "crash" in late 2008 and 2009. Then came the era of Mark Kelegian, Haig Kelegian's son. You can learn more about these two simply by googling their names. A brief story to make a point. I went to work one Friday night at OCC wearing a pair of slacks that I wasn't that happy with. I took Steve Gallagher aside and asked him, "Steve, are these pants ok?" I will NEVER forget what he said, "it all depends on how you want to present yourself". The first thing I did that night when I got home was to throw those pants in the trash! When Mark Kelegian took over at O-11 I knew immediately we were in trouble, simply by the way he chooses to present himself. After being asked by customers numerous times, "who is that guy" I realized how embarrassed I was to have to tell them that was the "new boss". One reason they had to ask was Mark's inability, or unwillingness, to get out in the room and introduce himself and get to know the people who are paying his salary. I have never seen anyone with worse people skills than Mark Kelegian. I have no idea why he is so unable to understand that his job requires a "people person". I can't imagine a worse choice of people to do his job. He is arrogant and condescending beyond belief. So, to those of you for  whatever reason  who choose to stay and work at O-11 I would recommend organizing on your own, or contacting a union organizer and finding some way to deal with Mark as a group and not on an individual basis. Believe me, the owners of O-11 have more money than they will ever need. They would let this business fail completely before ever growing a pair big enough to get rid of Mark. Good Luck To All!

2012-09-14

I'm confused. Why are the dealer's salaries, tips, and IRS compliance agreement being disclosed. Are they even accurate? If it is not a dealer, it must be management. Why don't they  disclose their salaries as well. I wouldn't mind knowing. Also, isn't in the best interest of the company for all of the employees to declare as little as possible on their tips? That is less money the company has to contribute to their social security benefits. This isn't about the dealers. I thought it was an attempt to bring back the players who are now playing elsewhere. Any feedback would be helpful....Thank you.

2012-09-14

This is not about how much people make. Its about how they are treated in the workplace. Its about working under the conditions of fear and intimidation. I can attest to this as I worked there. New management (BLAH)! What a joke.

2012-09-14

The comment made on 9-13 was obviously Mark. Thats what he thinks of Tim and how he deals with most problems; everyone should forget about it and move on. That whole shpeal about how much tips we report is what he was talking about in the meeting. That whole meeting was bs...he tried to play it off like he didn't care about this site. Well I know for a fact he has known about it scince it was first put up and checks it everyday.

2012-09-13

First of all, my name is Mitch Cooksley. Some know me as a poker dealer for 9 years at O11 and a player there prior. You may also know me as Rachel Kinney's fiance. That being said, I must commend you all for your BRAVE  anonymous posts. It takes a lot of courage to take a stand when no one knows who you are, Now whether you think Mark is the devil himself or are just buying ONE side of the story, no one is "helping" Ocean's Eleven employees by trashing us. Supporting us means coming in and playing, regardless of who is in the office. I always liked Tim, but this is insanity. I think a good ol lie detector test is in order so you all know what is fact or fiction. And for all disenchanted employees, have some spine and speak up face to face. Anyone who thinks Rachel is anything but hard working and 100% honest feel free to speak with me face to face. The last comment is obviously from some real knowledgable person...that or you do not benefit from equality and your own performance. Some employees had thier party crashed when things started being done with fairness for ALL. Sorry that merit screws things up for some of you. Also, I am sorry that some great customers are being misled and are not playing with us now.  Feel free to disregard this if you think I have no integrity. I sleep well at night knowing who Rachel and I are as people and as workers. WE will not be anonymous.

2012-09-13

Yes, dealers at Ocean's Eleven have a good thing going on and most of them do not have a higher degree of education, this I agree with. However, I did not think that was in question and furthermore, that is not what this site is about. Dealers were making this kind of money when conditions were alot better and employees and customers were a lot happier. Ocean's Eleven is a long way from going out of business and I don't think even Mark can run this puppy into the ground. This site is for those people who would like to voice their opinions when management does things that are unneccessary just for  the sake of doing it. If everyone is happy with the way they are being treated, then yes, why should you waste your time and money to keep this site up. However I really don't think this is the case. All I can say is "Thank You" Tim for an outlet to give people an outlet to express themself in a forum where they don't have to worry about being suspended or fired for doing so. Sounds like that posting came from someone either from management or an employee that likes getting crapped on over and over again. Tim, you do what ever is best for you and your situation and I don't think anyone would think any less of you on whatever you decide. One thing for sure is Mark will never change who he is and from the way things look everyone should just get used to it because, looks like he is there to stay. However unfortunate that may be.

2012-09-13

Tim, Poker dealers at Ocean's Eleven average $20+ an hour in tips. On top of that they are paid $8 an hour minimum wage. In order to be in compliance with the IRS they must claim only $10 for tax purposes. So, making $30 an hour, paying taxes on $18. Pretty Sweet! Now, it is very common for a dealer working an 8 hour shift to walk out the door with $200 or more! Many, if not most poker dealers have no more than a high school education. So, let's do the math, $30 an hour, 4 days a week, for 49 weeks, (3 weeks vacation) I get $47,040, do you agree? Now, in today's labor market, I have no idea where someone with a high school education could make that much money working 5 days a week, never mind 4 days. So, what I think is most poker dealers at Ocean's Eleven would be much better off if you shut down your site and go away.

2012-09-12

I'm curious as to how many of you support my decision to stand up for the employee's and customer's right to free speech and keep this site up, even though it's costing me a lot of time and $$ to defend that right.  So please answer the 'yes' or 'no' or 'I have no opinion' in this survey my publisher created at:  http://www.supportdrhope.com/.  I'll post the answers in a week.  Oh yeah, you'll get two free gifts just for taking the survey.  Thanks and have a great day!

First of all, I was wondering where the donation page went. second, I hope the employees that went to the "meeting" were not fooled. Mark is a lawyer, so you know he is full of it. Everything he said was calculated to make you believe everything is and will be ok. What do you expect him to say.He has two puppets in Rachel and Steve doing whatever they can to kiss his butt, You can tell Rachel is a control freak. Monitoring anyone and everyone like a hawk. She has a job and is getting a huge pay raise from when she was dealing. Plus, you can tell she likes it. Don;t think for a minute that sha doesnt use her new found power. I personally know that she has. She also has noone to keep her straight now that she is "on top". With Steve, he no longer has the sack to stand up off his chair. Rachel has taken over part of his power. He's just happy picking up a paycheck. He probably wont leave because he likes Oceanside. He's worked had to get to were he's at. Also, if idiot Mark fails, maybe he'll be next in line. What a miserable place to be. The great thing for Mark is that there are no people to question him. No dealer cordinator.Gets rid of anyone that might get in his way. Even thew dealers. Change their schedules so they have to change their lives around or quit. Have people work grave yard so they wont have "to be seen". I also think its sad that Mark has never done anything in the casino business, wait, he has. He bought a casino  and called it the Marilyn Monroe. After a few months or something it was closed. All the employees lost their jobs. What a great leader. I don;t think its been re-opened. The fact isis that Mark is a lawyer and that makes him a liar. most people dont know anything about whats really going on behind the scenes.I do, Thats why i get so upset when people try to defend, If you were getting it from behind like most us employees, you would have a different perspective. The ones that are at the top dont care because it doesnt effect them. I am going to get out ASAP.AND, the new promotions suck really bad. They wont bring in any more players than before. The bounty tournaments might help, but they are the same. Mark the destroyer is here and he should just go back to his lawyer practice, taking advantage of people. What a looser that he cant even make it in that field that he has  to come ruin a casino. And everyones lives. Control freak with his Blond evil Freak. To tell you yhe truth, Its just like dealing with the king on his throne. Question me and i will hang you in front of everyone. That will keep everyone else in line. The real problem is that there are too many scared, weak emplyees that need this job too much. they feel they cant stand up. i've tryed a got slapped down. Next move is to get out!

2012-09-05

There comes a point when you have to say " Not this time " . When you have to stand up for your rights and what you deserve.  Tim is trying to do just that for everyone involved with the maltreatment they have recieved since Mark K. took over. This includes current employee's. Current players. And most sadly of all former employees unfairly let go by Mark and players that no longer come to Oceans 11 due to the things that Mark has done and has lacked doing  as well. Tim is being a fighter for the rights of all . Everyone needs to support him in his legal battle against Mark and for his moral and correct battle against wrong doings to others. Tim is a man to be looked up to for putting his name and heart and soul on the line and all in an effort to help others who need it. More people need to be like Tim. A man who is not afraid to fight for his rights. And for other's rights also.

Are you kidding me? How is it possible that anyone can go thru cell phone data. Isnt that invasion of privacy? Boy has Mark Kelegian gone to far. Everyone please donate a few dollars to this cause. Someone needs to stop this guy. Everyone needs to vocalize how they feel. Dont be afraid. Its for the good all employees. This is the venue where you can do that. Lets keep this website up.

2012-09-02

I think bob moyer and mark each have 1% and the other 38% controling interest , is held by the walter lack group

2012-08-31

Yes the only reason Mark is in that position is because of his daddy Haig.

2012-08-31

Of course Mark got the job because of Haig's ownership interest in O11. Would anyone have hired a guy with no casino or other management experience without some other relationship? Haig Kelegian owns 30% of O11. Dan Drieger owns 10%. Bob Moyer only owns 1% or 2%. A local area guy named Bob Carter owns 15%. Lack owns or controls a group that holds the remaining shares. No one person is a true "majority owner". I hear on good authority that Haig, Carter and Mark met Wednesday with about a half dozen guys in suits at the club for a lengthy meeting. Supposedly they were a "group of casino investors from New Jersey". Mark even had on a dress pants and shirt. Who knows what may be going on??

2012-08-31

Is it true that Mark only got his job because his father, Haig, is the majority shareholder?  Can anyone confirm this?

2012-08-31

Everyone who works at the club is on edge.  We all have to sign statements, they want to look at our cell phones.  Where's our privacy? We're afraid to be sued, too.  Where's the good guys?

2012-08-29

I want to thank you for this open forum. Your right when you say stand up for yourself. No matter how big and scary the culprit is you have to do whats right and human. Lets all support Tim because he has supported us. Please donate and spread the word.

2012-08-25

Let everyone who still visit's this site say " Thank you very much " to Tim and say we will remember and root for you know you've done so much because you were simply trying to help other people. We know you never took anything about anyone. Anything you had was given to you by an employee at the casino when it was  done.

2012-08-24

Mark is not only a bully who files frivlous lawsuits (Tim is not the only one), but is a bad businessman.  How do his partners justify HIS actions, i.e. creating a hostile work place?  Does he think filing lawsuits is going to change the workplace environment?  Why doesn't he quit or have someone fire him.  Let him be at the end of a "you're fired" notice.

2012-08-23

I worry when there are people who have money to burn and willing to hurt workers.  Use the court system agents people and trying to block freedom is this a person/place we want to go and spend our money.   This is like the people we vote for and they have a slip of the tong and then try to fix it.  where do you stand freedom or for a bully with money.

2012-08-23

Oceans and me have had a long run, Tim I love ya and miss you and dont even go much cuz u ar'nt their greeting me with that dumb ass smile i love so much......Just like the ladies who r gone gone gone.....I too once went thru this kinda crap and was sued and won, free speech baby.........................The palce is making a fortune at any leadership, but it is visible to see the failure of what it once was......i wont play much their anymore....where can we find timmy these days?

2012-08-21

Tim has been the Greatest everyone and if he needs the money to help defend himself than we should all do what we can. I know that a lot of people have their income down but Tim has put a lot on the line trying to help and do the right thing for so many people. And now he is not only trying to protect himself but to protect all those who were fired and all those who remain at the casino and are still under the bad treatmen they are still recieving. I think Tim should counter sue actually. It is his name that is being maligned and mistruths are being spoken about. Justice is justice . Let there be that. Oceans 11 is the guilty party though. You go Tim. You got to fight for your right. Im talking to everyone whose rights Tim is fighting for right now. Lets all support him and give whatever we can no matter how big or small lets just all do our best for peace justice and the american way.

To the person who asked me to not publish their comments:

Pursuant to your wishes I have not published your comment, even though, in my opinion, it was one of the most well written comments I've read. I hope you will reconsider and request me to publish it. I feel it would be helpful to the other employees.  I understand that you have asked me to retract it and that's good enough for me.   It appears to me that you have done so out of fear of reprisal.  Let me reassure you, your post would be anonymous. The database specifically does NOT record the IP address of the sender. Most people put in a false name and email address, so even my database does not know their real identity. This site is where you can exercise your right to free speech without fear of retaliation.  For the sake of the other employees in your position I hope you will reconsider and ask me to publish your letter.  Here's a quote:

Hi . I just started playing poker around 6 months ago at Barona and Pala and now Pechanga and all ive heard is bad things about Oceans 11 . Is that true ? people have told that once it was a great place to play but now it aint. And not to go there so I aint. Ive seen this guy Tim and heard hes been thrown out WOW. He is so cool. Is this all true. Does it really suck there like peeps have been telling me ? My friends dont wana go there either . One went and said the same thing. Whats up with it . Tell me cause I want to play there but wont til i hear good stuff.

2012-08-19

Hey Tim we love you and miss you, thank you so much for putting your ass on the line for us.(WOW0 your the best. Hope to see you soon!!!

2012-08-18

Im an old time player at Oceans that used to go everyday but pretty much stopped going very often when the new guy came in and things just started going more and more  downhill.  I heard about some new promotions starting so I went in. Highhand and some other stuff that turned out to be cheap not worth going there again junk. Place is still so down. So many us of used to be everyday players are still gonna go and play everyday somewhere else until something really changes good there. Nothing is like it used to be. Im still young and got lots of time and energy to play anywhere I want ... it aint gonna be oceans thu.Not now.

2012-08-15

Artha the latest victim of Mark. When will it end? You will be missed Artha..Read up on your rights.

2012-08-13

Tim, Heard about your ban and although I agree with his right to do it, I beleive that it is one of the stupidest thing that he could have done. They have convicted killers playing there every day and ban a gentleman. I am sure you don't know me by name but I have played with you in numerous tournaments and consider you a gentleman. Maybe I will see you at one of the other area casinos.

2012-08-13

Sorry you were banned for telling the truth. It is what so many think, but have no clue as to who to tell or who would care. You have always treated everyone with respect. It is sad that Oceans Eleven has changed so much from the fun place it used to be. Mark has indeed chased so many people like CA State Ladies Champion tournament. Women traveled from all over the country to play in this and it was huge. Maybe he didn't think women spend enough money, boy did he get that wrong!!! I always thought of O!! as my home casino, not anymore. I hope they wake up as they lose customers. The staff and floor are some of the best around and they are very lucky to have them, but soon there will be no work and they will have to find new homes too....... They are who are the real losers in this whole mess!!!

2012-08-13

Tim, this is second hand info. It's been said that Mark has publicly stated that you got hold (stole) of secert, sensitive information from Oceans 11 and that was why you were banned and what he is going to sue you over. If you can share, is any of that true? By the way I have been a loyal customer from the begining of Ocean 11, first day they open, also been personal friends with management and until recent really liked the place. I've read all the posting and know they are 99% true. My only comment is "Mark has the people skills of an ant." And one more thing, it made me sick to hear that the employees at the company 4:00 meeting last week actually applauded Mark after he spoke, I wanted to puked when I heard that but it goes to show people are really worried about their jobs. No employee that I have spoken with (many) likes Mark or respects him. Based on my personal life experience I would bet Mark got picked on and his ask kicked a lot when he was a kid.

A comment on your comment

I normally don't comment on comments, these are the poster's views, not mine, I'm just supplying the forum, but since you asked, 'is any of that true?"  I will state the following:

Untrue. The only "sensitive" information that I saw were Employee Memos given to me by employees one of which said something like 'any employee sharing memos with customers or vendors will be subject to immediate termination for the first offense.'  Steve asked me if I had seen the memos, I told him I had.  Knowing that Mark would fire the employees who had given me the memos when Steve asked me to identify who had given me the memos I told him I would not. The next day I was banned.  Mark then sued me to get a Civil Harassment restraining order against me claiming that I had conspired to steal the memos, untrue, he lost in court.  Mark's attorney asked me to identify the employees who had given me the memos, knowing that they would lose their jobs, I said that I would not. He asked the judge to instruct me to answer the question, the judge said that he would not. The judge entered an order dismissing the case against me with prejudice (meaning he cannot re-file). There is still currently a lawsuit pending where he is trying to get me to take down this site.

2012-08-12

A few days now and the reality of the " show " Mark put on will start to be seen more as time goes on. What a person says and what a person does are totatlly different things. I've heard about the meetings from dealers working there. And I'm still gonna be an ex-player as long as he is still there. And see if he does what he told them. Fix chairs for one thing. From the job Ive done my whole life I know he totattly gave them bull about fighting the IRS for them. He did it for HIM. To save money on paying in to the Social Security Administartion. Does he really think everyone still there is that stupid to fall for that line ? And then he tried to sue Tim ... and of course he lost. Dont fall for the lies. I know too many of you from when I played there. He has got to go before all of us old players start to come back.

2012-08-12

Truth be told, it's his business and if he wants to run it LA style ... He can. I'll survive and so will you. O11 ? Maybe not. One thing for sure. It'll  never be what it was not that long ago. It's more than sad, it's  very similar  to watching something you love die .... Slowly. Ive  dealt  at O11 9 yrs, i was homeless  for over a year when I was hired. It was one of the best things that's happened in my life. Simply incredible. I'm one of the senior citizens at O11 and I KNOW  how good it was. It's the only place I've ever worked (and their have been plenty) where every single employe was happy and got along. The only time I've seen it in over 50 yrs at various jobs. I had never had that kind of support from  supervision. Never! Ever! ANYWHERE!  O11 is most likely my last "job" I'm old and I'm tired. I still love the place .. The customers are the best and co-workers although feeling squeezed are still the best crew I've  ever shared the workplace with. Bar none. The lady at the front desk was the 1st person I met their when I came. She was so gracious  and welcoming  .. Just unbelievable .Tim was at one of the first tables ii dealt. Gave him a bad beat (2 outer), he laughed and tipped me a red bird .Thats the kind of man he is. Like many of our customers, the man has style, I'll miss his happy face and  good vibe he injected into the room. Again ... Just incredible that he would be banned from ANY casino. If I owned the joint I'd send a limo whenever he requested. Thanks so much Tim for your support of the staff., and thanks to all those loyal customers who have posted honestly here. Co-workers are pretty down right now and I guess we can't always hide it.  It's all that much harder because it was SO,SO good. I can deal (any limit) with what comes next because I'm old and familiar  with the cycles of life. It's been a peak experience in life just working here. I never would have thought it possible to  manage so many people and have EVERYONE happy. IT IS! ... Well, it was  anyway. I wasn't on the job 3 or 4 hours before Mr. Moyer introduced himself and welcomed me to O11, told me he had heard "good things" about me!?! As I said  before... I had been homeless for over a year when I came through that front door hat in hand to be greeted by that sweet, sweet lady receptionist. I have no idea who was saying good things about me ... That doesn't happen very often to poker dealers. I was  more afraid of a background check than anything else. You don't work 50  jobs in your life without having  a  body or two buried somewhere in their.. But Mr. Moyer was sincere in his welcome and I can't tell you how good that made me feel. We all want to feel wanted in our workplace ... How many times in life have you felt that? It was a unique experience  for me. It's been golden for several years ( not so much lately)  and I have to say THANK YOU SO MUCH to Bob, Dan and every single floor person, supervisor, food server, board person , and porter it's been my privilege  to work with Thank you all so much. You truly have become family to  me.. The customers???  Those that put food on my table and pay my  bills? What can I say? For me it's been  the best anywhere , anytime. Kinda like having a party every night .... And getting paid for it!!!  Hope I'm not fired, don't say my name please ... Like the rest ... That's me in the corner ... Losing my religion.

2012-08-12

Tom, Remove all comments and posts I've made other peoples walls, immediately .. I misunderstood.  Can you send me your personal e- mail?

I love the chicken wings at oceans11.  Tim do you want some chicken wings?

2012-08-11

Been working O11 for several years now. Best place I've ever worked. Was never treated better by any "boss" I've ever had ... And I've had plenty.

A Message from Tim:

Yesterday there was a hearing on the Civil Harassment lawsuit that Mark Keligian filed against me.  Mark lost. His case against me was dismissed with prejudice (meaning that he cannot re-file).  There is still a civil lawsuit pending where Mark is claiming that I have slandered him.   His lawyers have demanded that I take down this website.  As I said before,  I  am an American that believes in the first amendment to our constitution, the right to free speech. Absent a court order this site will remain up.

2012-08-10

Tim there has been some positive changes made to Ocean's 11 for employee's and for player's and in Mark's behavior toward's all. We all know that you will not be allowed back in the room. But it is also you who is the one that deserves the credit for all positve changes that have happened and that should continue to happen. Youve done a great feat for many many people. I will thank you. I hope one day we can all take you some place and celebrate how good a man that you are.

2012-08-09

I miss the smiling face of Adrian. She was always so welcoming.Things seem to be different.

It seems as though mark's management style is to have everyone in fear of something. Don't talk to the security guards, don't wear certain types of clothing, don't go on the poker floor and talk to the people you spent 15 years getting to know, who are now your friends, oh, and don't talk about whats going on at the casino, and if you are a floorperson or supervisor you had better report these people or you will be punished as well!    UP TO AND INCLUDING TERMINATION FOR THE 1ST OFFENSE     It seems as though tim is just the latest in a long line of people mark tries to intimidate.  I hope  things like this will make him take a look at the ramifications  of his actions rather than just ignore trama he leaves in his wake. Surely no one enjoys firing people, do they?  Hopefully this will open his eyes in the future and O-11 can thrive againur

2012-08-06

Tim, I know you care a lot about people and it's nice to see you trying to help others. I was a patron of ocean's 11 casino too and I remember Marlaine and what a warm and nice person she was. I hope she is doing well, but maybe she is better off not working in a negative environment.

A message from Tim:

As you know Mark had me banned from Ocean's Eleven, my crime? Being concerned  about the treatment of the employees.  Now Mark's attorneys have demanded that I take down this site and are now suing me to do so.   I for one am an American that believes in the first amendment to our constitution, the right to free speech. I used to play at Oceans almost every day and every week and I used to love it there when it had friendly people on the floor like Steve G. and Bob Moyer and Dan Dreager walking around and Chuck smiling and talking to me and other players. And the office door open if I or other players wanted to go talk to them about something. Were they perfect , no , but no one is. Then they started to leave and this guy Mark ? is that his name , started taking over and running the place. Im not sure if thats really his name cause ive never meet him or seen the office door open. Hes never come around to say hello to us players. We all started to see things change for the worse. Promotions seem to get worse all the time. Things got dirtier. Dealers got more and more unhappy. THe whole place just got more down and depressing to go to. The parking lot cut down in size cause we heard this guy Mark was too cheap to still pay for it or something like that. Then I heard the ladies at the front desk were fired and that this great man Tim has been barred , because he tried to help them get rehired. All because of Marks fault. Now , I , and just about everyone I used to play with daily there are not doing there anymore until this guy Mark is gone and till Tim is begged to come back . When Mark is gone we will be back. Not until then. We all talk about it at Pechanga everyday. Thanks Tim. Its nice seeing you at Pechanga too.

2012-08-02

I once was told that there is two exsisting gaming licenses issued by the City of Oceanside and that Ocean's Eleven was in ownship of both. If this is true, then why does OC11 get to have both of them. Maybe this is an avenue to proceed. If OC11 had some competion then maybe the happiness of the customers and employees might be given more consideration.

First - thank you Tim for the caring and the platform --  positive attitudes were shown prior to this "infection" - though I agree that healing is important - it is a process - if the initial cause remains - taking an aspirin to disguise the pain will not result  in the cure - if the  culprit causing the pain remains unchanged in attitude and delivery - there will be no healing - all of this while the employees are fighting for their livelihood - thusly taking the attitude to ignore it and it will go away - is what got us to this point in the first place - again thank you Tim for sticking your neck out for us

2012-08-01

I am the wife of a card player that USE TO LOVE going to Oceans 11.  Because of that I know several players and employees.  My husband also felt and saw the deterioration once Mark took over the managing reigns.  Seeing all the employees so stressed out and always walking around in fear of losing their jobs and sad made it too depressing for my husband to continue to go there.  **  There are several things that don't make sense to me and I have many questions.  Why don't the employees band together and talk to an attorney?  Seeing that the rest of the Oceans 11 owners have allowed this and have done nothing.  **  And speaking of the partners, once they saw the devastating affects that Mark has brought on to both employees and customers, why don't they remove him?  There are GREAT managers that are well loved and would do a MUCH better job (Chuck, Steve, Bob, just to name a few).   **  Do the owners want Oceans 11 to continue to circle the drain?  It won't be long before they close their doors for several reasons: 1.) Once all the players get comfortable in their new casino's, they will NOT want to leave and go back to Oceans 11.  The longer they leave Mark in there, the more likely that the players will not return.  2.) The longer that Mark is there, the more likely the ex-employees, present employees and anyone else that has suffered from Mark's arrogant behavior will sue him and Oceans 11.  3.)  I BET that the sooner that Mark is no longer at O11 and the old employees are restored and word gets out, ALL the old card players will come back.  They LOVED that place!  **  Any good business person will tell you that if you want your business to succeed, you keep your customers and employees happy.  Clearly Mark has done the opposite.  **  If the ex-employees and managers and EVERYONE that has felt the wrath of Mark do not band together and find strength in numbers, this will have a devastating effect on those people financially, physically, emotionally and they will forever be victims and later regret that they allowed one man do this to them.   **  Do it NOW, before there is no more Oceans 11.  You need to find strength and get back the happy, fun, profitable place that everyone loved to go to.  **  Thanks to this site you have an avenue to comment and share your experiences and thoughts, you have a place to start.  Especially the older ladies that where let go so unfairly.  It's easy to wallow in self pity and hide because you're scared.  But the easy path is not the way things are changed in life.  Going out of your "comfort zone" is.  Can you imagine where we'd be if NO ONE stood up to unfairness and bullies in life?   **  PLEASE take a stand now and "right" a "wrong" while there is momentum and an opportunity.   Do it for your selves, do it for each other and especially do it to restore a GREAT place that everyone use to love!

2012-07-31

Who wrote something about being happy and smiling and showing a positive attitude ? How can people do that when they there is no reason to be happy. No reason any more to smile. No reason to have a positive attitude. So many employee's looking to leave and go work elsewhere or work less here all because of the depressed way that things are now. You think that they should be happy about less people who used to play at the casino being there all the time ? How they all changed about how they felt playing there after Mark came to be in control ? Is that positive to you ? or is it maybe because your salary has gone up only ? Impossible to be positive there now. Impossible to smile there right now. When things change and get back to how they used to be. Then those things will happen again. Now , is that POSSIBLE ?

2012-07-31

Tim, have you been re-instated? Have Mark or Lack paid the slightest bit of attention? I agree that it is time to move on, just not at Oceans 11. I'll probably see you at Pechanga or Lake Elsinore, my new "poker homes". Good luck, and thanks for trying.

2012-07-31

It is nice that the memo stream has dried up for the time being, Let's all take a positive attitude and move forward, life is too short to not enjoy your job. We need to start smiling again and put our pride in doing a good job above all this. A positive attitude can be infectious, just like this negative one.

2012-07-30

I've been in this bussiness for over 30 years and had never seen such a turn in employee moral and customer decline, I cant believe that the owners are not aware of the bottom line, ofcourse Mark saved them lots of money at the employees expense, those of us that continue our loyalty to the company have no hope of ever recovering what we work so hard for and was taken from us as long as Mark is in control. Yes the casino has had a facelift but at what expense, how can anyone justify not allowing a decent human like Tim not play in the casino because he exercise his freedom of speech, thats just crazy. What was Mark thinking when he got rid of the most precious voice at Ocen's 11, yes our friendly and sweet receptionist. How many human resourse ladies must we train, how many surveillance employees must go thru our stablishment, none and I mean none will ever be good enough for Mark, because he is in a leage of his own, Owners if you are reading this , please please give Mark another project and let Steve Gallager take our casino back with all the customers that we have lost. I love Ocean's 11 is my second home and would like it to be the happy , fun enviroment it use to be.   A LOYAL AND CONCERN EMPLOYEE

2012-07-30

Been playing poker at O-11 since it opened in 97, For 10 years O-11 had: the best food, best dealers and floorpeople, best action, and most important, the best atmosphere in all of southern california. Recently i returned to O-11( i moved to idaho) and much to my displeasure i could not believe what i saw. How can you let Dan Dreger, Bob Moyer, & Chuck McCormick leave, and put Steve Gallagher behind a desk, did O-11 go corporate, if they did there must be some irate stockholders. I hope there is some way to fix O-11, I think the 1st step might be a motivational speaker, all the employees seemed down, and it wasn't fun to play there like it used to be. Hope this site can help fix whatever the problem!

WHO is the person who wrote " There is always another side to the story ". WHO are you ? What is your name. Tell us when you get from suspension that your happy with okay. We know your happy because YOUR salary has gone up. You the one who loves the few new faces we have playing at Oceans 11 but apparently not the OLDER faces who came to the casino for years and years and built the casino into THE poker room to go. But who no longer do since Mark has taken over. Yet played here all the time when it was the people you said couldnt manage the casino, Bob , and Dan , and Chuck , running it. And oh yes , 4 or 5 years ago the casino was never busier. Was that Bob, Dan's, and Chucks fault too ?  What do you say about Mark having a trusted supporting team that things would be better ? Yes , there maybe your correct. The thing your missing however is that Mark would have to start trusting them. For at the moment, the way fires and suspends people who dont agree with every word he says, it's sure hard to trust him. And trust must be mutual. You say you study business so what is your point ? that you are a business genius and own your own ? You can GUESS what Mark's future plans for the casino are ?  We can guess it to. To run off all the players who used to love playing here. To make all the employees who used to love work here miserable , fire them , suspend them , or have them quit , all because of his behavior to them. Is that one of your guess's ? It should be since your now suspended you say.  Tell Mark the things your telling us about him having a professional experienced team. That would mean dont fire the one's that have been there for years and make other experience professionals quit , then thats exactly what he would have.  Are you Mark's spokes person ? his suspeneded spokes person I mean ?  if so take a chance and tell him he really needs to change and to realize all the mistakes he's been making and to apologize to a lot of people and to really reach out for others now instead of always pushing them away.  And try to make sense next time you type something , in you ever do , including your name of course, because what you typed the first time makes no sense at all. Thanks and welcome back from suspension whenever you get back to work. I wonder if you were missed while you were gone ?

So whomever you are that posted that your salary went up, my question is did you work hard and are a loyal employee?. I'm happy with many changes but not the way some where handle. The yelling and screaming that went on in front of customers was humiliating, that has nothing to do with running a bussiness, No I dont want the old management team back. there were many injustments and favoritism, just let Steve Gallager run the bussiness,  It was sad to see so many customers from O11 at Pechanga and all of them had the same coment, is not the friendly place it use to be.Haig wake up and except the fact that your son is not cut for this bussiness, please remove him before is too late and we no longer have a place to work due to the lack of customers and bussiness :(

2012-07-29

I'm a player and also involve with an employee from Ocean's 11, These are facts of the last 2 years. After enduring the hard work of building a bissiness, meeting new customers, dealing with the ups and downs of managements wrongfull doing, after all the years of loyalty, my income got cut 35% and 6 mpnths later another cut, so after all the hard work and loyalty now I'm making the same amount that an entry level employee makes. now does that sound fair to anyone?

2012-07-28

TO: "There is always another side of the story"... your entire comment is infuriating, ridiculous, and quite frankly... suspect. I guess another appropriate adjective would be "funny" seeing as how it made me picture Mark in front of his computer coming up with yet another bright idea of posting on this site in favor of himself, cleverly disguising his words so they looked like that of a supportive employee who recently got suspended but recognized it as a just punishment and is gladly taking their medicine for being bad. <br/><br/>Of all the employees at Oceans11 that receive a salary I can narrow you down to two people who <i>might</i> legitimately feel this way other than Mark himself and if I'm right, you are not in the same situation as those of us in the trenches. I'm happy for you that you are making more money since Mark's ego took over the casino but that comes at a price. Many of us have suffered large reductions and we are the lucky ones who haven't been made redundant or fired for no good reason. It's been said on this page enough that repeating is unnecessary but the guy is bad for business, public relations, customer retention, and general employee morale. <br/><br/>My suggestion to you, if you're not Mark, is that you check reality, remove your nose from his backside, and put some thought into the future because no one's position is safe at this place anymore. If he remains in control even you will eventually regret it.

2012-07-28

After reading all these posts i am still not clear on why tim was bared from the casino, please explain the circumstances that led to his baring. He seemed like a super nice guy, and i have played poker with him many times. Was he too drunk? or rude to someone, what caused the baring?

2012-07-27

mark is going to run oceans in to the ground just like he ran crystal place out of business he cares about nobody but him self and he is on record telling management he cares nothing for the employees and that they can be easily replaced.

2012-07-27

To "another side of the story". You seem to think that the former management caused much of the current disfavor and problems at Oceans11. WELL I CERTAINLY DISAGREE. I have either played or worked there since they opened the room. Of course no management team is "perfect". However, Dan, Bob and Chuck made Oceans11 the finest card room in southern CA and possibly the nation. The food and service were exemplary from day 1. They adapted to customers desires to change games from low ball and seven stud; to all levels of limit hold'em: and now to primarily no limit hold'em. They made probably $10 million a year for the owners in the best of times, though this is likely down some due to the economy. THEN IN COMES MARK. None of the managers could stand him from day one. His "Holier Than Thou" attitude was apparent from the beginning almost three years ago. He really knew virtually nothing about the casino business and the managers were faced with a BIG CHALLENGE from the start. Sure he has remodeled the room and added new paneling, a sports bar look and granite basins in the restrooms. YET HOW MANY NEW CUSTOMERS?? I suspect that he has run off more than he has brought in. Actually the new granite "troughs" look more like urinals than hand basins in my personal opinion. Then there are the PERSONAL SERVICE aspects to consider. As many have observed and commented here, the entire "tone and atmosphere" of the place has changed dramatically for the worse. Of course the employees are unhappy and in constant fear of losing their jobs. In addition their income has been cut from the reduction in hours. Then the recent orders that they can not speak to their long time customers and friends. Now he has started barring customers for stating their opinions. SORRY, BUT ALL OF THIS BY MARK IS NOT THE WAY TO RUN A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS!!!

2012-07-27

WOW!!!!!!  Does anyone realize the amount of wrongfully terminated employees or employees who were pushed out the door early.  Also, how about the amount of employees seeking counseling due to the stress brought on by this leadership....ITS ALOT.....You people dont realize that this alone is grounds for a strong CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT............WAKEUP!!!!!!!!!!

2012-07-26

SHAME ! on that person who wrote that they disagree whit what is causing the current situation at the casino. SHAME ! for saying that they" dont really care about it being a working family place at all , they just care about THEIR salary". Whoever you are that did write that you say " if you want to hear more I am open to any conversation about Oceans11 " FINE then .... why didnt you put your name in it so that we can have that conversation with you ?  Whoever did write this , in addition to being very unknowing to the truth of things, is also a horrible , selfish, greedy person, and one that seems to only care about THEMSELF and no one else they work with or people they deal to. I hope whoever say's who they are. And yes, please tell us the facts you say we dont know yet . Personally I dont think you know what YOUR talking about. Last thing to say. SHAME ON YOU. Your selfishness and careless feelings about others will pay there price. And please, tell us your name. Or do you DISAGREE to that too ?

2012-07-26

Tim being banned from Oceans11 is deplorable. The guy never caused anyone a problem. Mark Kelegian's management and bad attitude have made what used to be, undeniably, the best card room in san diego into an undesirable place to play and work. There is an overall negative undertone that one can feel upon walking in. People don't even want to talk about what bothers them because Mark is an entitled, hot-headed, chauvinist, jerk. I am an employee at Oceans11, but only because times are tough and options are slim.

2012-07-26

There is always another side of the story. The problems started at Oceans eleven 4-5 years ago which is all connected to old management who has people skills but no clue about managing  casino. I study business and I can guess what is Mark future plans for oceans11.  He has one major problem stopping this plans is ¯Trust¯ , it is almost impossible to build anything without trust.  From the beginning ,  We were our own boss at oceans11 . Thanks to old management which cause so much unfair treatments, favoritisms ¯.. and broken laws that when Mark start to fix these problems it was too late. Now he looks bad but the good news my salary went up, no one treats me unfair, I do not have to listen Ricky and the same songs anymore ( I am sorry  ¯.... ) new games., higher table limits and jackpots, new  decorations, new uniforms, ¯..new costumers, new faces¯¯¯¯¯.yes I do hate stupid rules but believe me casino was  so  out of control. He has no other choices than starting  these rules to start a new beginning.  He did stop a lot of bad problems about to come against to  Ocean¯s Eleven Casino.  Also he has been getting attack from the first day he start this casino , because of the changes he apply to bring the old oceans11 back.. If Mark had a professional , experienced and trusty supporting team that  fixing the problems we would not be on here to argue his management skills.  I am asking current employees to be patient and to be professional . Give us another change to start a new beginning. We are all humans capable to make mistakes and learn from this mistakes. I am sorry all the people who were victim to all this bad experiences. Everyone please pay attention to past bad management decisions (BOB, CHUCK, DAN) made towards to oceans11 Casino. Life goes on. LETS MOVE ON.  I wish you best luck. I recently got suspended at oceans eleven too. I am mad but I understand. I believe in  Ocean's Eleven. Lets all be positive and start trusting each other again so we can have better future.

To: "I disagree. I have been working at oceans11 since the beginning."   ::   First of all, The excuse that this "is just a business" is BS! It's that very reason why so many other businesses in America are suffering, because business cares more about the bottom line than employees and customers (you know, the ones who create that bottom line by working our butts off and spending our money). Secondly, If you've been there since the beginning then it should be obvious to you what the problems are. For example, have you seen any new faces in the place? I sure have, there is more than a few new dealers working there now. Not long after hiring some of these dealers what happened? Oh yeah, that's right, too many dealers all of a sudden and now poker dealers are forced to give up work days and go from 4 to 5 days. How about borderline infringing on freedom of speech by telling his employees that they can't speak malicious about O-11 (unless they're in private where no one who cares can hear, of course). On property, I understand, outside of that, they should be able to say whatever the hell they want. Employees are afraid to make suggestions and help support O-11 because they don't want to cause trouble and lose their job over something innocent. The old managers had an open door policy and would hear out anyone if they had a moment to spare for them. Mark rudely kicks people out of his office before they have a chance to speak! I've loved Oceans Eleven for a long time because the service was amazing, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the people were a joy to be around. I don't feel these things are true anymore. Now I drive an extra hour to play at the Indian Reservations. Simple as that. I believe it's naive to say that Mark is NOT the problem. He may not be the entire problem but I feel he is a big part. It's obvious that the staff at O-11 are under a lot of stress. Humans won't function at their best when they are under stress. In this business you need everyone at their best and from what I've experienced, Mark brings out the worst in people... (I would just like to say that I'm disappointed to see that Tim get kicked out as he is a wonderful and compassionate person and it would seem all he is truly guilty of is wanting a positive change at a place he really cares about. Why would you kick out such a loyal and amazing customer that is a joy to be around?! Thank you for making an outlet for people to be heard, communication is important. Mark could use some work on his communication skills.)

2012-07-24

Its a shame Mark what has gone on at Oceans 11. Now , you can call me an ex - player. The final straw was firing three wonderful women , all around my age. They were all such lovely and wonderful women. Always saying " hello " and ask if they could help me with  anything. Then I went in and saw they were gone and replaced with young men. Im in my 70's. Doesnt Mark like older women working for him . Must they all be younger men ?  In the old days , when Bob Moyer and Dan Dreger were running the place. When people like Chuck and Steve Gallagher were on the floor , things were so different. The players were so much happier, the dealers too. The chips now are sticky and dirty. They feel unhealthy and disrespectful. Is this new owner .... Mark , I believe it is , too cheap to clean them , and put new clothes on the tables ? And the food used to be so good and so inexpensive. Now the prices have gone up , which is fine, but the amounts served and the q

To the "poster" as of 7/23 "I disagree". If you really think that Mark is competent, I suggest that you read the news articles about him on the link on Tim's page one. Double click on Mark Kelegian (an attorney) that is highlighted in blue. This describes a legal representation case where Mark's mistakes and failures cost a rape victim a judgment in her favor. Likely it co st Mark his license as well, as he has not practiced in several years. It is lucky for Mark that he has a "Rich Daddy" who could look after him. I doubt that Haig has done anything for the rape victim.

Websters new word dictionary definition 1) any of a worldwide group of agile, flesh-eating mammels. 2) a sly, cunning, or sneaky person. 3) to avoid or evade a commitment or responsibility. 4) has a habit of sucking out the contents of an egg without destroying the shell ( WEASEL).  Let me know if that describes anyone of the 450 people that work at O-11 give me your top 3.

Myself and my family are concerned about you.  I tried to contact you via the email address you entered but my email was returned undeliverable. Other customers and employees have contacted me expressing their concern for you.  Won’t you please contact me so we can talk?  The thought that someone might hang themselves because they feel so dejected disturbs me.  Please know that there are people out there that care about you. Perhaps we could help you find employment or help you in other ways.  Please contact me at info@oceans11.info

I disagree. I have been working at oceans11 since the beginning. People are pointing the wrong person to blame and forget the fact that this is a business not a family gathering place. I honestly don't care about working family place at all.  I care is the my salary and fair people to work for.  If you want to hear more I am open any conversation about oceans11.  The only reason Mark looked bad  because of the weakness of his none trained management team , the spoiled employees , bad economy ......and more reasons.....There is someone else you need to point out your finger and need to pay attention to other facts that you really don't know yet. That person is Not Mark.

2012-07-23

Hi all! I am a former employee of OC11, when I decided to begin my employment in the gaming industry OC11 was the only casino I wanted to work for. The reason for that decision was simple, OC11 was a fun place to work. The customers were happy, the employees were happy and the place was alive. After working there for a while I finally realized that the driving force behind all of this was Chuck McCormick. He is a people person like no other person I have every worked for. I worked very close with Chuck for about two years and had first hand knowledge fo his leadership. The day after he gave his two week noticed I quit. After watching Mark treat him the way he did and was present in at least three meeting where Mark said that he did not care about the employees I new it was only going to be a matter of time before I said or did something to get fired, so I quit.

2012-07-23

I'm though with Ocean's 11. I used to go their all the time. The enviorment has changed so much that it's no longer the fun hangout. The bar at night was fun, but since they've dropped Ricki it's completely dead after 9 PM. I guess I'll see Tim at one of the Indian Card Rooms

2012-07-23

Hi Tim, I posted a couple of days ago.  I wanted to suggest a possible means to gain some support.  I am a professional and need to play.  I would quit O11 in a heart beat if I had a place to play.  Maybe a ride share to get to LA casinos.

2012-07-22

Ocean's Eleven Casino, where have you gone?  I know, your shell is still there but your heart and soul is gone!  Once upon a time you were the crown jewel of card rooms but you have slipped into mediocrity.  If you're not careful the slide will continue until all that is left is the building.  How did this happen?  Oh, I remember.  It started almost two years ago when some not so brilliant owner thought his son would make a good managing general partner.  This has proven to be as far from reality as possible.  Once upon a time, Ocean's Eleven was founded on friendliness and the concept of "family".  This was destroyed by the new leader Mark K.  He managed to dismantle the "team" the had made Ocean's Eleven the envy of the industry.  He then proceeded to bully, badger, intimidate and threaten the remaining employees.  It took no time at all to destroy the friendly "family" concept that had lifted the casino to prominance.  Although Mark K is primarily responsible for the erosion of the once great business, he shares the responsibility with the owners os Ocean's Eleven Casino.  They have chosen to look the other way while Mark has tried to maintain an acceptable "bottom line" by taking from the very employees that made tens of millions of dollars (no, make that hundreds of millions) for the owners.  How pitiful that their profit margin is so important that they would stoop to fluffing the botom line at the expense of those who had faithfully served them and built the once awesome casino.  One has to wonder how the owners can look in a mirror and be happy with what they see.  They have been aware of the travesty that has taken place from almost day one.  One only has to look at the first defections (and the owners were very aware at the time) that took place.  Great managers and people left early because of Mark.  We all remember Dan, Bob and Chuck.  There were many others also (too many to list here).  In a nutshell, the casino business is a "people" business and I can't think of a worse people person than Mark K.  He has zero people skills and that is the root of the problem !!

2012-07-22

who in the world would do something like that to the best person in the world?

2012-07-22

Tim, We spoke on the phone. I hope you can get some help for the lady that says she is considering hanging herself.

2012-07-22

Tim, I have been following this site. I am an employee at Ocean's Eleven. It has been a fun and interesting read. But now it is turning serious. I am speaking about the letter that

2012-07-22

Im an employee at oceans eleven, and although I do understand his rules to some degree, I dont think he has made the best choices.  I find it strange walking into the building where ive known people for years and can not talk to them.  I can remember about a week ago when someone wanted to talk to me and for fear of losing my job I had to tell this person to walk and talk with me because I was scared to stand and talk for a few minutes.  This is not the only time or ocassion something like this has happened and I know just go to work, shut up, and deal, and try not to make any mistakes because of all the people that I have seen fired.  I understand its a buissness, and you dont want people hanging around all over the floor.  But really, this is a place where I consider many of the people my friends.  I just think its strange that Im suppost to go to work every day and I cant even stop by and say hello or make plans with a friend on my lunch break.  Why would you want to kill relationships, or friendships between people who enjoy each others compnay?  And although I havnt seen them recently it is quite disturbing to see letters that are signed, "You will be terminated" for everything.  I remember when dealing was a fun job and I could laugh or even make a lil joke when the time was appropriate and really have a fun time.  Im scared to joke or tell anyone anything now because I feel there this "zero tolerance" policy from reading this memo's that all talk about termination every day.  I used to tell my friends to go play poker and id stop by and say hello and have a laugh with them.  Those days are over as I know I wont be able to stop by and say hello now.  Overall i'm not saying things are out of control horrible, im just saying it doesnt have to be like this.  Why not make this a fun place where I can invite my friends to come by, What harm is there for me to say hello to people that I consider friends and stop and chat for a few minutes.  This place does not have to be a place where rules and regulations strike fear into people.  In fact, I truly beleive that if people can have fun (when the time is right; of course you wouldnt joke with a person after they lose a big pot etc.) the customers will also have more fun.  I mean think of any buissness, a gym, golf course, church, nightclub, grocery store etc. etc.  I would prefer to go to the one that has the happiest, friendliest people.  Costco is a great buissness that comes to mind as a place where the employees are happy and it reflects to the customers.  In n out burger is another one.  etc. etc.  Once again overall im not trying to complain, im just voicing my opinion here since this is the only place I feel safe saying something :(

THESE EMPLOYEES AND FORMER EMPLOYEES NEED TO REALIZE THEY HAVE THEIR RIGHTS!!  BEING  HARRASSED, THREATENED AND INTIMIDATED, INTERROGATED AND CREATING A HOSTILE AND UNBEARABLE WORKING ENVIRONMENT, IS BREAKING  LABOR RULES. YOU ALL,PAST AND PRESENT EMPLOYEES NEED TO REPORT THESE VIOLATIONS TO THE LABOR RELATIONS BOARD.  GO AS A GROUP OR GO SINGELY-BUT GO. IF YOU HAVE A HUMAN RESCOURCES DEPT. AT YOUR CASINO I AM AMZED THEY HAVEN'T INFORMED THE MANAGEMENT THAT THEY ARE BREAKING LABOR LAWS.  GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL-SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT.  WOULD TAKE ON CONTINGENCY.

2012-07-21

I agree with Tim 100% as a matter of fact I quit playing there since this bipolar guy took over.

2012-07-21

I used to work at Oceans 11 for many years.  I am also a victim of Mark's vicious and cruel behavior.  Mark would go off at you and was so mean to me that it got to the point that I hid from him.  He had me targeted becasue I was not young and pretty. He wanted to replace all of the older long term employees in favor of young people.  I asked him questions and he retaliated by giving be late shifts and cutting my hours.  But I would not quit becasue I had no where else to go and dedicate my life to his business.  I would even work off the clock to get my shifts back. He finally fired me for all my loyalty to him and his bsuiness. Now I sit in my apartment broke, borrowed money from friends.  I am ashamed of my lif e after all I did for him.   He is so rich that I mean nothing to him.  The apartment is so lonely that I would rather hang myself than life on the street.   Mark, Why were you so mean to me when I tired so hard to do my best for you and your business?  I only wish that someone was there to speak up for us.  I sent letters to the owners only to not hear anything.  We know it is only about your money.

2012-07-21

I am a poker player at ocean11 for many years, got to know woderful people like Dan Greger, Bob Moyer, and Chuck Macormick, and all the dealers and the floorman, they make you feel like home,  when they see me, they will give a hug or say hi good to see you and talk to you, now they can't do that, since Mark chased the nice guy's and took over ocean11, i dont feel good when i play there anymore the vibes are very different, but i still love the dealers and some of the floorman and i will missed all of them icluding the poker players co'z i got to know them, ocean11 will lost me as a costumer i dont feel good playing there now, hopely things will change and get the wonderful people back. the way it use to be. i love oceans11 until Mark egomaniac ran it.hope change is on the way, good luck to all the people who are emplyees there.

2012-07-21

I play poker at O-11 4-5 times a week, every time i see Steve Gallegar or Lonnie they shake my hand, give me a smile, and address me by name. It makes me feel good, because they know my name, and seem to care how i am doing. The poker businessis a service industry and people like Steve and Lonnie are the reason people go to O-11 instead of one of the other casino's. Mark is not a people person, he has never shaken my hand or introduced himself, I have never seen a dealer or a customer go into mark's office for any reason.  There has to be some interaction between the manager and the customers. Mark will have a hard time becoming a people person, his ego is just toooo big. What O-11 needs is a person like Dan Dreger, Bob Moyer, or Steve Galleger running the casino, The employees and customers like working and playing for them because they care. I don't think Mark even likes it there, he just likes the POWER to feed his ego!!!!!

2012-07-20

I have had no encounters with Mark on a personal level.  However, I see the effects of his style of management everytime I play.  I play for my living.  Any reduction in games and customers costs income and enjoyment.  There is considerable reduction since he took the reigns.  Cost of food has risen, less returns from promotions, fewer games to choose from, all these things have reduced my desire to play at O11.  I used to play about 200+ hours a month.  Now it is less than 80.  I have seen many very fine employees leave O11.  What remain are the worst dealers, floor persons and support persons.  It will only get worse.  It is always possible to find someone to replace the good ones, but O11 will lose business and support if they send all the good employees to the other casinos.  Thanks for letting me vent Tim.  All the best to you.

2012-07-20

Tim, thanks again for your webpage and player/employees comments. I hope that Mr. Lack and other owners are reading and paying attention. Another "victim" of Mark's great purge and ego appears to be Connie, the former Human Relations Manager. Most regular players would recognize her as the tall, well-dressed blond lady seen around the club and offices weekdays. Others know her as the lady whose son plays linebacker for the Raiders. Anyway she has been gone now for over 2 months and appears to have been replaced. I'm sure that she finally tired of Mark's actions and not paying any attention to any of the myriad of Labor Laws and Regulations to protect employees and their rights. She likely told him of his violations and was fired as a result. I'll not set foot in Ocean's again until Mark is gone.

2012-07-19

Tim , I wont give my name right now , but you might know as you know I can rap or be a clown ... or maybe even be an atheist write a poem and put down the word lord as I get it around.   Tim - What I think you've done is great . It is fantastic and marvelous. And you are so right about so many things. I hope you are really listened to , for the betterment of everybody involved. The words you say are true words, unfortunately. Yes , sometimes the truth does hurt , this is one of those times. You will be very missed while your still away from the casino. But I think that one day many things will change and  that you will be more then invited back. And I will hope that you will please a lot of people by returning.  I hope you write me back. Ive watched your video many times and both myself and my wife have clicked the " like" button. Id love to help you in any way that I possibly good. Your an excelent person. I know you'll be just great where ever you go to play, and the people who now play and deal and are with you and going to be very happy to have you there.  Thanks again.

2012-07-19

I have been a customer for 10 years now. I do feel Oceans Eleven envionrment is deteriorating, and I thought maybe it was because of the prolong recession. Now that Tim has brought to light a lot of the issues behind the scene, this would give other customers a new pespective.

2012-07-19

Imagine you are the manager of O-11 casino and it comes to your attention that one of your best customers has a problem. What do you do:     1  Invite them into your office to discuss the problem    2 Talk to your servers, dealers, and floor people, and see if youcancome up with a solution.  3 Think of a way that you can fix the problem and discuss it with the customer and/or your staff to come to some sort of resolution.  or 4 bar the customer.              I have been playing poker for over 30 years. I have played in all the casino's in LA and SD, and modt of the one's in vegas.O11 has always been one of my favorites; great food, good dealers and floorpeople, and a friendly positive atmosphere.   I don't know exactly how or when this happened, but about 1 year ago.  many of the employee's were not as friendly as they used to be and the overall vibe has gone from positive to negative. O-11 should take pride in their job the way they used to and give off that positive vibe.  It seems as though the O-11 employee's are always afraid of something. Maybe they are afraid of UP TO AND INCLUDING TERMINATION!!!!

My first question is why? Who declared war on the employees and patrons? Is this the new business model? What is the long term goal of these threats to the employees?  Where does Oceans 11 see itself in 6 months or a year from now? In a little over a year and a half, Black Cloud Mark has destroyed Oceans 11. Was his assignment to destroy Oceans 11?  He has been successful.  Mr. Lack, is this the goal you had for your investment? Again I ask why the animosity toward employees who are putting in more than a hundred dollars an hour out of every game into your pockets. What did your dealers do to deserve this kind of treatment? If someone was putting a hundred dollars an hour into my pocket I would treat them like a human being, not to continually threaten them with termination. Oceans 11 needs an exorcism. Your business is dying and the next downturn in the economy will devastate your investment. Mr. Lack, why didn¯t you address Mr. Anders issues directly? Sending Mr. Ander¯s letter to the perpetrator of the injustices was not the professional thing to do. Is banning Mr. Anders, one of your finest customers, the way to solve the problem? Or should you deal with the real issue? Black Cloud Mark¯s  management style . The poker business is a customer service based business, threatening and  abusing  the employees is not an effective management style.   He is totally incompetent and inhuman to ever run a poker room. If you do not care about your investment in Oceans 11 keep doing nothing.  The problem is Black Cloud Mark and until he is gone Oceans 11 is dying a slow death. You can see from this forum this isn¯t ever going to be solved with him at the wheel on even on the boat. He must go!!!!

I HAVE PLAYED AT OCEANS FOR YEARS SINCE THE NEW MANAGER HAAS TAKEN OVER THE GLOOM AND DISATISFACTION IN THE ROOM HAS BECOME ALL BUT HORRIFIC.THIS WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE CARD ROOMS IN CALIFORNIA  BUT THIS NEW MANANAGEMENT HAS CREATED A HOSTILE WORK ENVIORMENT FOR ALL WHO WORK AND PLAY HERE AND PLEASE HIRE THE RESEPTIONISTS BACK!!!!!!

2012-07-19

The new wave of employees at Oceans11 are a far cry from being "people persons". They are replacing the tried and true employees of years. They are arrogant, rude, and are allowed to address the other employees asif they are beneath them. They are the new wave of Mark's influence. Bring back those youhave shunned, those that have showed compassion, friendliness and loyalty.Get rid of the  stupid, caniving seduction scanners and bring back Adrin!Allow more women in public managment positions and get rid of the uneducated influx of young men who allienate the customers.Get our loyal customers back, like Tim Anders. Please get a casino manager that does not shun us or threaten us and one who does not target older people. Please save Oceans11.

2012-07-19

The best part is that the Kelegians do not have majority shares in the company.... there is only owner who stands in the way of Mark retiring early and Tim Anders was banned. If they are willing to treat loyal customers imagine how the employees feel.

2012-07-19

How can someone be banned for writing a letter? That letter wasnt offensive in any way. Seriously!

2012-07-19

As one of the "fired employees" I have been blessed. I do not have to work for M Kelegian anymore. It is truly a blessing in disguise. The condition of the casino under the new management just plain stinks. Dont we understand that a cheerful working environment ulimately leads to a successful business. Happy employees....happy customers...healthy bottom line. I thought attorneys knew stuff like that. Ruling by fear and intimidation is a sign of insecurity. I have moved on and I can only hope for the best for the remaining employees..good luck...your going to need it.

I am a former customer - a REALLY regular customer of O's 11.  This decision of Mark's father - Haig - to put Mark in charge has been a business move that is beyond comprehension!  On occasion, Haig used to get up at special tournaments and even charity events and speak of how he knew O's 11 was a family and say other things we now know were BS.  None of his casinos are fun. Ocean's was the most amazing place once. Customers & employees cared for one another - actively.  When times of trouble hit someone - we came together to help.  Customers & employees were happy to see one another, shared life stories & sincere hugs upon greeting.  It was a place where business thrived because of a loyalty that comes only out of a sense of community.  It's all lost.  Mark is an arrogant and incompetent leader with no integrity or goodness in him.  Go ahead Mark - do it your way.  Everyone knows what you are AND what you're NOT - a decent human being without any true understanding of how to manage people or customer service.  I'm not writing just because you banned Tim.  He'll be fine. This just gives me the chance to finally voice what I know about you.  I'm sure if you read this Mark, you will in your mind just shrug it off as comments from someone who knows nothing of what they speak.  Let me assure you BIG Mr. Mark - this is not coming from someone who does not know how to operate/manage companies & people successfully.  You're a big fish in a little pond competitively.  You're a mean-spirited ignorant man & you have ruined the very best of what was Ocean's 11.

I got a lot to say about that guy,and the way he runs Ocean's.....

Hello I'm going to tell you a rather bizarre story. I am going to give you the facts the best I can, and let you draw your own conclusions. I was a Ca. Games dealer,  about 3 mo. ago  my bank came up two hundred dollars short. I reported the shortage to the cage and had to dig into my pocket to make my bank to go home that evening. About three weeks later Connie from HR calls me and asked if I came up short $200. I replied, Yes about three or four weeks ago. About two weeks after that I was cashing out and the cashier asked me if I ever got my $200 back . I said no, but they did call me about two weeks ago about it. This upset the cashier a great deal. The cashier told me they got written up for the overage and that they had told management that it was my money. This was the first I knew that they had actually found my $200. The cashier they would try to get my $200 back . I told them not to risk their job. The next day the cashier was fired. (I do not know the exact reason for their termination. ) About two weeks after that I was terminated. When I went in to pick up my final check, I pointed out to the new lady in HR that it was $200 short . Three days later I received a check from the club in the amount of $208.33. along with the check I received a letter and a letter read as follows and I quote  "On June 19, 2012 oceans 11 management became aware of your quest for payment of $200.  Eclosed is our check for $208.33 which includes 10% interest for five months."  Like I said in the beginning this is quite a bizarre story. P. S. If Mark is removed, I would like nothing better than to go back to a job that I used to enjoy.                                                         Thank You

I am an employee at Oceans11 Casino. The managment under our new casino manager, Mark K. has been a dissapointing, degrading experience . He is a boss, not a leader. A boss intimidates, threatens, thrives on an abuses his power to control; belittles his employee s. A leader, like Steve G., inspires the employees, guides us, empowers us to reach the common goal of succes of  Oceans11.He walks with a posture of anxiety and worryand fustration. As a poker player of 20 years, I do know how to read body language. When you now walk into Oceans11, there is now a tense black cloud of anxiety that hovers over the place.  Mr. Bob Moyer was not a perfect person, however, he was a great leader . He inspired us to stand tall, smile, perform to the best of our abilities by setting this example himself.

i have been going to oceans 11 since shortly after it opened in 1997. since racing for dollars started in 2003 i have over 13,000 hours. i went there even tho living in orange county and closer to the la casinos, it was a player friendly casino with no b.s by the players. the employees were friendly and professional. and happy to be working in a good enviornment.  bob moyer was always very professional. dressed in a coat and tie and ALWAYS HAD HIS DOOR OPEN EMPLOYEES AND PLAYERS ALIKE TO VOICE THEIR COMMENTS OR CONCERNS.SINCE HE WAS forced out all that has changed. one of the first things mark did was put a lock on the door and refused to shake an employees hand. the employees are afraid to breathe i have personally witnessed mark SCREAMING at the maint. crew, calling them idiots in front 4-5 tables of players and many other employees. another time he screamed at an employee for switching  damaged decks without his approval, again in front of many customers and other employees. he recently had a meeting with employees and stated he had 15 applications for every job if they didn`t like his decisions and walked out of the meeting.  there are many fewer games because of many reasons. 1 mark k refuses to buy cards that don`t get marked bu the shuffle machines. every deck has cards with creases in them, unless new then in a hour of use the new cards are marked also he supposidly wants to save $$ but has spent 100s of thousands in remodeling including adding multible tvs and redoing the bathrooms twice without fixing the problem the plumbing. the employees are all parinoid there are mikes to listen to there conversations and if they say anything negitive they will be fired. ,i play some of the highest stakes games and will not play with marked cards.the only incentive to go there during the morning hrs was racing for dollars. now mark has made the max amount to earn is $ 2.00 an hr if you play 400 hrs it was $5,000 for 1000 hrs which was part of the reason i played 45-50 hrs a week. now the only time i come in is when i play golf and i play about 6 hrs a week. i now go to the gardens or commerce where i see many many players who used to be oceans regulars who left for the same reasons i did.

The past couple of years I have been an occasional customer of Oceans and have enjoyed the friendly environment.  That is untill recently.  The last time that I patronized Oceans, I noticed a definite change in the way the employees interact with eachother and customers.  The demeanor of the employees indicates an environment of fear and apprehension; which does not translate into an enjoyable cutomer experience.

2012-07-18

I am a retired business man and I have seen many bosses like Mark. They always spell doom for the companies that keep people like him in charge. It has already started. Employees are afraid of doing or saying anything to the customers as they are afraid of being fired. They are the first line of defense for the company. If they are happy, the customers will be happy. If they are unhappy,as they are now, they make the customers unhappy. Unhappy customers soon leave and the company loses. Mark may have some good management skills but they are not evident to me. Start a customer /management communication process and check it out for yourself. I have read Tim's letter and can find no fault with it. To ban someone for giving their opinion and trying to improve the atmosphere at the club is very childish and shows a lack of confidence in their own ability to manage.

If you are not sure who Walter Lack is, he is the lawyer represented in the Erin Brockovich movie, starring Julia Roberts. So what happened to the man who stood up for human life?

2012-07-17

I have been a card carrying loyal supporter of Oceans eleven since 2007. In the past, under different management, my habit usually consisted of 2 to 3 days a week of tournaments, live play, or a combination of both. Since the management change, I only play about once a month.  I can certainly feel the difference in Employee moral. Some of the changes like the bar makeover and new uniforms have grown on me. But it is difficult to spend hours with unhappy dealers. With a service business where your employee¯s attitude is a big part of the equation an owner needs to gel with the employees.  Your employees must like their jobs and their owner, Mark needs to realize that his strong management style is wrong for that type of business. He has a great manager in Steve Gallagher, Mark should concentrate on running the business and let Steve decide how to manage the employees. I see Mark as much as I do Steve, Steve always greets me with a smile and a firm handshake, Mark has never said a word to me.   I believe it was a poor decision to ban Tim; he is well liked at the casino and should be allowed to continue to play. Mark needs to have a round table discussion with a mix of Oceans 11 customers and Tim to see what changes they like or dislike and figure out what he should do to correct the problems before Oceans 11 suffers any more losses of both income and good employees.

2012-07-16

Tim,  I am a former employee. I am happy that you representing any number of regulars stepped up to the plate for the employees. You tell it like it is. Mark could ruin a "really good wet dream". At one time I counted over 20 memos posted on the bulletin boards in the employees' break room. Most ended with threatening employees with punishment "up to and including termination". This at first was laughable, Now he is apparently applying this to good customers as well. His ego is ruining the place.

2012-07-16

all of this is true. mark is a total ass. everyone is scared to do anything. they put out a memo about dealers being told not to talk to customers, then within three days another memo telling us not to talk about memos. such bs that tim is barred. PLEASE get mark the F outta there!!!

2012-07-16

I've been playing at Ocean's for quite a while. I play 10/20no limit. Since Bob Moyer retired I've seen a complete change of attitude among the dealers and staff. They seem unhappy with there jobs. Before they were smiling and full of energy. This has been going on for quite a while. There has been so many employees who have left that I have really missed. The owners of Ocean's Eleven must be aware of how Mark has been and is treating his employees why are they not taken steps to correct this problem. If Mark is the problem and it seems that he is based on all the comments I've heard he needs to be replaced. I am a businessman and noone is irreplacable. For the 8 years that I have played there it was the frendliest and best run casino I've ever played in. Why are the owners standing by and watching there investment go down the drain?

2012-07-16

I think the reaction and action from Mark Kelegain was a joke.   I have managed people/businesses for my whole life and can see the negative impact the recent decisions have had on the staff and feel of the special place we all call  our local cardroom.  I realize mark has a job to do and he has to make what he feels are the best decisions for the business he is running but to ban a long time loyal customer for life is just not the best way to handle a problem.  I feel mark should of sat down with Dr, Hope and expressed his concerns about Tims oppinions but said this is my business and I will run it how i see fit, you have the choice of palying elsewhere if you think it is necessary.  I have heard from a few employess that Mark lacks people skills, the same skills that once made this place special.

2012-07-16

Ocean 11 needs colorful characters like Tim. It's an outrage he's banned simply for writing a letter expressing his view. Time to start playing at the Indian card rooms.

2012-07-15

I USED TO GAMBLE AT OCEANS 11 CASINO. SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR IVE WITNESSED MARK VERBALLY ABUSE AND BELITTLE THE EMPLOYEES FOR NO APPARENT REASON. MARK SEEMS TO BE A TROUBLED, OFF BLANCE MAN. POSSIBLY EVEN BIPOLAR BY THE WAY HE ACTS FROM HIS SUDDENT OUTBURSTS AND UNCALLED FOR DISRESPECTFUL REMARKS TO HIS EMPLOYEES AND CUSTOMERS. HE STRIKES FEAR AND INTIMIDATION TO ANYONE HE COMES IN CONTACT WITH. HE PARTICULARLY PREYS ON THE WEAK AND ELDERLY. I WILL NEVER AGAIN STEP ON THE GROUNDS OF OCEANS 11 CASINO, ID RATHER DRIVE THE EXTRA HOUR TO PALA OR HARRAHS CASINO. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO OCEANS 11, AND DISCOURAGE ANYONE THAT GAMBLES TO EVER PLAY IN OCEANS 11. ANY BUSINESS THAT EMPLOYS AND CONDONES THE BEHAVIOR OF MARK SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES AND  SHUT DOWN!!!!

2012-07-15

wow, since hearing rumor of this unjust banning of a VIP Patron I have not been back to that casino. We need to do something about this manager who feels he can just ban such a well like person as Tim Anders. So I well do my part and void going back to Qceans 11 until this patron is allowed back in to the casino.

2012-07-15

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!   BANNING TIM ANDERS FROM OCEANS11 IS LIKE BANNING GOD FROM OUR HEAVENS....     Just wanted to express my gratitude and appreciation for people like you and others who actually care about the Oceans11 employees....    This should of never happened!!!!!

2012-07-14

i used to love O11. Good times there and good Chinese food. The last few years I saw a complete change of attitude there. Chip runners being degraded and yelled at.  Reception taking heat for what seemed trivial at best. I just stopped going. The vibe became hostile. Must have been a management change. Weird!

2012-07-14

The change at oceans eleven hasn't been pleasant.  I think Mark is trying to draw a different crowd by hiring younger by changing the bar hiring young and dumb waitresses getting rid of certain happy employees but I agree it isn't working. Oceans eleven used to be a fun place to go but the energy level is low and getting lower every week. Boo to the changes
